Why? PC Per acted unprofessionally and were unethical.

i was going to buy a ryzen this year, was disappointed in gaming performance so waited for bios updates and to see skylake-x (witch turned out to be garbage) and all the updates for ryzen were not enough imo (you can only do so much with software updates)
 
coffee lake 8700k right now looks legit for gaming to being a little future proof with the 6 cores, as long as there isnt any heat issues and you dont have to delid to get a good overclock ill buy it..... if not its time to wait for ice lake 10nm or zen2 7nm 

It beats/matches the 1700 in multithreaded tests, despite having 2 fewer cores It performs better than an overclocked 5820K/6800K/1600(X) at stock speeds

Holy shit that's a dick move. You don't put out big slides with "new king under 500 dollars!", make all reviewers base their price:performance numbers on a 500 dollar cost, and say "oh the 500 dollar price was just a rebate which has now expired".

how about they make me want to use firefox by adding functionality and/or boosting performance, instead of "fighting the chrome overlords" that i only tolerate because their browser "just frikking works" for me.

anyone else kinda turned off by both skylake-x and ryzen/TR, i kinda wanted a HEDT but with good gaming performance, i was going to do a build this year but might just wait for coffee lake and hope it can OC well enough with 6 cores

its hard to compare the 1950X to the 7900X other then price, its going to come down to what do you want it for. intel will have the edge in single or duo core so it will be more flexible TR will be a multi core monster and will crush in any type of task that will use all those cores 
 
 

Threadripper specs are official now with TDP and confirmed pricing. I hope the RAM support is stellar on launch. ( Alienware is offering up to 64GB at 2933Mhz)
 
As someone looking to upgrade my workstation/gaming system I am extremely excited about what's been shown so far, and cannot wait for reviews comparing it against Skylake X. 
 
I know plenty will be interested in the overclocking potential as well, and at least Noctua has so far confirmed all new coolers for Threadripper based on their best performing coolers.

The TDP of 180W is more than the early leaks, but still rather decent for essentially two 1700X's in the same socket.
 
Temps, especially under Prime95 and other AVX loads will be interesting.

Also very interesting is the Alienware Threadripper machine! They sport up to 64GB at 2933Mhz.
That's actually darn impressive, considering how much Ryzen has struggled to get to that barrer and break it with Dual channel, 16GB max usually.

This is old news and nothing is going to happen. If you didn't like the new S8 being $1000+ then man wait for $2000+ with no competition. As much as you might hate apple they are the major players in the economy and losing them would screw everyone. Like I said never going to happen though

im happy to hear skylake-x doesn't have the TIM issues of kaby since they ditched on soldering but $600 with the PCI-e lanes cut down on the 8 core 7820x im probably going to pass
 
it was ether that or ryzen but after its mediocre gaming performance (albeit MUCH improved since launch) and sill having ram issues the tech is there and the price is amazing with ryzen i think after a couple of updates zen 2 with higher clock speeds in the price range of a 1700 would be a dream come true and i can wait a little longer

Gotta agree with @MageTank here. The dual channel i5 and i7 doesn't really make any sense on the platform no matter how you look at it. They aren't great for diags (half or more of your board will be disabled) so anything that goes busted on that board that isn't supported by kaby-x what happens then ? All this did was make the boards unnecessarily complicated for the platform.
