No, the pin-outs are different. You can use ECC unbuffered in a non-ECC unbuffered board, but you cannot use registered/buffered memory in a non-buffered/non-registered board.

if not, then you won't be swapping any RAM chips any time soon - a simple soldering iron does not cut it

i don't KNOW for sure but i ASSUME that it shows how much stuff is COPIED between video memory and system memory. i think that's what the copy engine does

7.1 surround headphones are all fake, it's impossible to have 7.1 audio in a pair of headphones. Plus going with real headphones over a gaming headset will 100% of the time give you a MUCH better audio experience. What's your budget.

    no. fucking. envelopes.

stop spreading this and let me tell you from experience with buying used ram on ebay and recieving only dead sticks in flimsy envelopes: THEY DO BREAK
and the sellers try to wiggle out of refunding it EVERY GOD DAMN TIME

put your RAM stick in a tray like so:

and then into a cardboard box of appropriate size (don't forget the bubble wrap)

if you can't get a tray then at least bubble wrap it and put it in a box ... a sturdy one.

i don't want to see one more stick sent to me in an envelope. EVER.

what is the use of a 40mm fan? well, it can be used where a 50mm fan would be too big.

40mm has been used a LOT over the years. if you look into low power or retro PC hardware you will find these all over the place.

you can slap it in and on almost everything and yes - this includes a raspberry pi case (most pi cases that already have a mounting spot for fans are made for 30mm fans unfortunately)

KenjiUmino reacted to Crunchy Dragon in Are there any laptops?
Lenovo ThinkPads usually fall into that category. They tend to be good gaming machines since they're designed as workstations and have the resources, but come at a pretty hefty price.

Other than that, you can find some Dell and HP laptops with dedicated GPUs, but they usually aren't very good ones.

exactly what i am thinking ... this whole thing gets blown out of proportion. makes good headlines, after all.

this has existed for so long and not been abused yet.
but now, after all the noise about it, i bet some people will try to craft a weapon grade exploit around it.

KenjiUmino got a reaction from dizmo in SSDs in RAID0, Gamesave Manager software?
i have and it has already helped a lot.

the thing is that many games save their shit on the boot drive regardless if they are installed on another drive or not and each game hides its save files somewhere else.

that means that even IF you would back up your whole games folder/drive, there is a good chance that half of the games lost their saves if you have to reinstall windows or replace the boot drive for whatever reason. this happened to me many times

it's simple when the game saves are put in the documents folder (capcom and tomb raider games save there) but some games don't save there at all or only save part of the important stuff there and the other part in some other folder on the boot drive.

usually, this is somewhere in C:\Users\Username\AppData but i have seen other locations too.

manually tracking down each games save folder and finding out wich files to back up is a chore but this gamesave manager has a database with the save location of every supported game figured out already and that really makes things easy.
