Valley_ got a reaction from vilkku_100 in 60GB SSD for a boot drive
My boot drive has used over 80GB and I only use it for the OS. Therefore, I recommend against that...

Valley_ reacted to jaslion in Is this a good build? I need opnion
Considering the 3070 just got announced is supposed to be a 2080ti and is launching in october not really great.
Also far too much ram you only really need 16gb. The cpu is very expensive for what it is and the cooler is pretty overkill.
The o11 dynamic is a good case but will be pretty empty with what you have.
You are massively overpaying for the psu.
Motherboard is a bit overkill.

Valley_ got a reaction from Ben17 in Home WiFi issues
The WiFi signal in the 2 main bedrooms in my home is unbearably poor. It just randomly cuts out. And in the living room (which is close to the router) the internet signal only seems to drop temporarily whenever I use my wired PC...
I am looking for recommendations for something we can install in the house to get a strong WiFi signal in every room.
Thanks in advance

Wireless repeaters - Uses same wifi network name and signal, keeps speed but gains latency, good for file transfers and general web browsing. Shitty for gaming, voice chat, and anything real time.
Wireless Range Extender - Creates a new wifi network name and signal, more expensive usually. Keeps speed and minimal latency gain. Okay for general use. Shitty if you live in a congested area (Apartment, Dorm)
Ethernet -> Wireless APs (Network Extenders) - Configurable, recommended for all of them to use the same name and configuration. Some provide the option to automatically switch between APs with limited or no signal interruption. Speed and latency should be optimal. Shitty if you don't have a $100+ -
Valley_ got a reaction from jones177 in my screen is tearing when I watching video
Just watched a Youtube video that says:
Open NVIDIA control panel
Go to manage 3D settings
Go to program settings
Select Google Chrome (or whatever browser you're using)
Scroll down to Vertical Sync and turn it on
I haven't got this issue so IDK if it works but worth a go

Thanks so much everyone! I was scared to death. Thought I broke a 350$ CPU lol

Valley_ got a reaction from 737748484882484 in Touching a CPU
i7 8700K doesn't have any pins. It has gold pads which generally are ok to touch (doesn't mean go touch them all the time).
The pins you are on about are within the motherboard, definitely don't touch those, they may bend and won't work.

Valley_ reacted to WoodenMarker in Touching a CPU
The gold contacts are generally called pads. The pins are in the motherboard socket at least for this platform.
Touching it is fine. It's best to wipe off any skin oils off with a paper towel if you're extra worried. If you didn't actually contact the cpu with your skin, there's nothing to worry about.

In device management, have you actually created a new volume on the new HDD

Valley_ got a reaction from Bananasplit_00 in Help with my upcoming job
So I recently had a phonecall from a possible employer and at one point in the call he asked if I knew much about networking and I just told him I have studied it a bit in college..
Next he was asking if I "you know how to do computers talking to each other any everything?" and just because I wanted the job I said "Yeah yeah, like a shared network"...
Don't even know if a thing such as a shared network exists. Either way, if anyone knows what he may have been talking about and send me some links to quickly educate myself about WTF he was on about, that would be great.
Sounded a lot like he doesn't really know what he is on about either.
Thanks in advance

Valley_ got a reaction from Ryujin2003 in Glitch and lag on Galaxy S7
Tried installing an anti-virus or something to give it a quick scan (just in case).
The in built maintenance may not be as good at catching dodgy software compared to an anti-virus

Valley_ reacted to RedAV8R in Do i need to buy Windows 10??
Yes you need a license/key for Windows. You can download and install it for free, but its not going to last forever and you'll be missing some features until it's activated.
