HungryHamster got a reaction from lopj245 in 13900k to avoid RTX 4090 bottleneck?
I keep hearing people talk about the RTX 4090 being CPU bottlenecked. Do you think it will still be bottlenecked with the 13700k? If so, maybe I should consider the 13900k instead.

GN did their testing with a 12700k and did not report CPU bottlenecks. I don't think the xx900 series will be required, especially if you turn up your graphics settings.

Reviews aren't out for either the 13900K or 13700K yet, we just don't know. Wait till they are out before making any final decisions.

Realistically though, any advantage the 13900K will have over the 13700K in gaming should be able to be matched by a decent overclock on the 13700K.

Watch some GPU reviews, most reviewers talk about it. It depends a lot on the game and how graphically demanding it is. In some less demanding titles it was bottlenecked even with a 5800X3D at 4K.

You can set it up either way. I would set it up with a push configuration. Fans on the inside, pushing the air out through the rad

I think this part of @HungryHamster question has been missed? They’re asking how the fans are typically orientated out of the box.

I think the fans aren’t even mounted to the radiator on most AIOs, so you decide which setup you want & then screw them in accordingly.

Probably a very dumb question, but I want to get a 360mm Corsair AIO (Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE LCD) and install it to the top of my new PC case. I'm wondering if by default those fans will pull in air from the case to cool the radiator or if they push air away from the radiator and into the case.

HungryHamster reacted to Spotty in Do AIO fans push air away from radiator or pull air in?
That's entirely up to you to decide when install the fans on the radiator. You can choose which way you want the fans to face.
In that set up I think most people would have it configured with the fans taking air from the case blowing through the radiator and exhausting out of the case.

I didn't even know that this was an issue with this monitor. I see a thread on Reddit about it. As of today, 13/10/2022, V032 was just released, however I'm not certain this fixes the issue with uniform brightness. https://rog.asus.com/me-en/monitors/above-34-inches/rog-swift-oled-pg42uq-model/helpdesk_bios/

Just get the i7. The difference between the two CPUS are not noticeable at all in gaming, especially in higher resolutions. The extra $200 is not worth it, at all.

Thanks, that's what I had thought, but someone else was trying to persuade me to get the 13900k and I was getting mixed feelings about my i7-13700k preorder.

HungryHamster reacted to dilpickle in Is it still recommended to have a "boot drive"
This was recommended only because SSD were small and expensive. If you can afford an SSD big enough to fit everything there is no need for separate drives.

HungryHamster reacted to Lord Szechenyi in Is it still recommended to have a "boot drive"
I still recommend at least splitting a drive virtually, always a good thing to keep windows separate from other stuff (in case you ever download that compromises your system)

HungryHamster reacted to done12many2 in Corsair H110 w/ i7-6700k Getting Hotter After 6 months?
Could be a couple of things, but the bottom line is that your temps are still more than fine.

It's that time of the year when ambient temps are starting to rise again.  As ambient temps increase, expect CPU temps to increase almost proportionately.  Combine this with possible influence from the dust you mentioned.  Your thermal paste may need to be reapplied depending on the quality of whatever you used.

Like I said, you're still fine at your current temps so there's probably no real rush to fix any of this stuff.

All modern PSU's have active PFC to ensure it is capable of supplying the full labeled wattage on the unit.

A UPS is a separate unit as said that provides a battery backup if there is a power loss. Where they cross is the active PFC and UPS's can sometimes have issues with compatibility.
