Id suggest getting a mod mic and slapping that onto any cheap-o pair of headphones you can find. And down the road if you ever want to get better headphones you can transplant the mic onto the new set!

My general rule of thumb - if they make keyboards and/or mice, I'm not going to buy their audio gear.

The new Modi 3 just dropped and it looks awesome. The Schiit Stack for $200 (Magni 3 + Modi 3) now truly seems to be an unbeatable combination of flexibility, performance, and price. Link to the new DAC is below. What do y'all think?

3 Minute Reviewer got a reaction from Olli_ in How good are Audio Technica m40x?
For the m40x to really be worth it you need to upgrade to the angled hm5 pads which is another 20-40 on top of the cost of the headphones. So if you are on a strict budget the Senny options might be better

Well you're a real downer - I have a $50 gift card and $0 of debt, healthy savings, strong credit score, 401k, roth ira, and more personal investments. If I would like to spend $50 on mindless junk then I think I should very well do so. Thank you for being a real downer.

Just like most people around here will say - 7.1 in a headset is mostly a sales gimmek to get you to over pay for underperforming headphones. That being said - I personally really enjoy my AT-m40x with upgraded HM5 angled pads for gaming. Also maybe the Phillips SHP-9500. Your best bet is to get really good headphones for the actual hardware rather than relying on sofware that usually doesnt provide a legitimate benefit

3 Minute Reviewer got a reaction from MrDynamicMan in Soundbar for Desk (PC)
Is there a specific reason you are looking for a soundbar rather than just getting a set of speakers? For that price point you could get some really quality powered monitors, or a basic amp and some good passive speakers. Generally sound bars are considered to be overpriced and underperform especially when compared to bookshelf speakers.

yeah I would just say be careful with soap and things of that nature, not sure if the oils/chemicals of the shampoo and soap would have any adverse effects on them

10/10 people will tell you that virtualized surround sound is a gimmick to sell you overpriced soundcards. My advice would be to get headphones with good imaging and high quality treble. Check out the Philips shp9500 and the ATH-WS1100iS as some possible options (then get a mod mic to make them headsets).

Just got this email from Amazon this morning entitled "Home Audio Speakers". I think they might need to do a better job picking the thumbnails for each of their sections  I haven't even looked at bluetooth speakers recently so I have no idea why they are all over the place haha.

I’d take a look at the Vanatoo T0 - probably as good as it gets for the price for powered monitors. And take a look at used subwoofers - can usually find some pretty good deals around $100 bucks
