I might recommend switching to intel and just using integrated graphics.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from Thinkfreely in So Optane was basically pointless?
Optain was pretty pointless and felt like a gimmick to get more people to invest in a platfirm that offered little improvement over its predecessor. It boosted the performance of a hard drive but used an m.2 slot on a Kaby lake system where people were likely to just buy an SSD from the get go. It basically turned your HDD into a SSHD which if you wanted that then just buy one int the first place sice it would be $30 cheaper.

I really wish that they would just call it USB 4 and 5 to help keep it simple. Why does it need a decimal in it? Just making shit complicated for the sake of being complicated.

You should try to get your front intake fan low enough on the case that it is blowing air towards the GPU intake fan.

    1050Ti's don't SLI.

I don't want to plunge this into a thread where we evaluate your build choices, but it might be worth taking a look at Ryzen since you get more for your money. It would allow you to allocate a bit more of your budget to PSU.

I would recommend something like a SeaSonic M12II power supply, I believe they are all fully modular, are very reliable and might come with a fan-less mode (their fans are practically silent anyway).

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from Xatris in I nee a power supply!
Those are not always reliable and only give you an estimate at best. I typically look at the power rating that the manufacturer lists for their part, add 15-25% then add the powers together. I also make sure that I'm not exceeding more than 80% of the power supplies maximum output power.

Try taking a look at this list here.

I personally like Natsume Yuujinchou and have been furiously waiting for episode 6. There are 6 seasons averaging 12 episodes each and a couple of OVAs that you can watch. It's slower passed and is more of an emotional slice of life/supernatural.

The i5s don't really clock any better than the i7s so that would just be a waste of time unless he is trying to save money, in which case it would be a better idea to look at Ryzen.

The OP doesn't need thermal paste since the CPU cooler comes with its own. I personally would recommend a be quiet Pure Rock or a Cryorig H7 instead of 212 evo. Both coolers perform better for the same price.

PSU is kind of overkill, but couldn't really hurt unless budget is a concern.

The case that the OP chose is not known for its ease to work in. It is rather cheaply made, has little room for cable management and somewhat restrictive airflow.

Don't use any external drive, get an internal hard drive instead since they are pretty much the same price.

DragonTamer1 reacted to EnergyEclipse in Wraith spire or Cryorig H7?
The most well reported overclocks achieve around 3.7ghz secure, with 3.8ghz on some, on standard Wraith Spire coolers, something to which is nothing to mock considering its is included out of the box.

As for acoustics, the Cryorig H7's larger fan surface area will likely yield superior, with moderately be overclocking, nothing mammoth though. Appearance however purely of consumer desires since either in my opinion look spectacular. So nothing to worry about either way.

Maybe saving for now could offer up a 'better' CPU cooler, said be a better option in my opinion, since with liquid on that you'd get awesome overclocking results no doubt.

Best set of luck & kind regards,

x58 boards are expensive, and not everyone has the confidence to work with Xeons. In my group of friends they all think I have some god CPU just because it is a Xeon but it's basically just a 3930K. The name throws people off and they can get intimidated by what they think is a lack of knowledge.

DragonTamer1 got a reaction from Gargone77 in Why do non-PWM fans go full blast on PWM headers?
On a 4 pin fan header, the four pins are Power+, Power-, Tachometer, and PWM. The only difference between a 4 pin and a 3 pin is the PWM pin. A 4 pin header does not regulate its voltage on the Power+ pin to control a 3 pin fan the way a 3 pin header does. Instead it controls its fan by sending a PWM signal through the PWM pin to the fan. The frequency and timing of the pulses tell the fan how fast to spin.

Most 4 pin fans have a minimum dropout voltage that is higher than a 3 pin fan since their internal circuits need to be powered at all times. A 3 pin fans internal circuits are designed to work at lower voltages so they can receive lower voltages and still operate.

Sometimes a 3 pin fan can be controlled on a 4 pin header if the motherboard manufacture supports this feature. You would need to tell your BIOS what kind of fan you have installed and would need make sure that the board even supports it.

Even a Ryzen 5 1600X or 1600 would be better for video rendering than a 7700K, though not by as much as a 1700. It sounds like you don't make videos on a super regular basis so it may not be worth it to spring for an 8 core. This is a decision that you would need to make for yourself though.

He's not going to go for a TIM change. He lives on the west coast and I'm on the east. Helping him build his system over skype took 12 hours to complete. No, that's not an exaggeration. He's so scared of breaking a part of his build that he babies it to unnecessary levels. Pulling the cooler off of one of the most expensive parts in his system is something he's not going to be comfortable doing.
