* thread locked *
So, since the thread warning wasn't clear, political bait (posing this as a left vs right thing) isn't allowed.
This will now remain closed, any new thread related to this will be merged here, and hence locked also.

The battery is big as in physically big, as in the XY axis , but not on the Z axis, it's not thick.
It's a 7.7v 47.3 Ah battery so relatively small compared to regular laptop batteries that use 3-4 elements in series to get higher voltage.
They probably kept the dimensions big because it's a standard size, and maybe they use the bottom plastic mold on multiple models

if that's a laptop 'from the school' that does not belong to you, you have no right to start opening it up. just want to get that in before anything else.
Beyond that:
- this is the case for most thin laptops, it's just the fact that electronics are getting smaller, but displays remain the same size for practical reasons, so more and more room is available for battery space.
- for a 'potato level' laptop, that is actually a fairly big motherboard, i have a netbook with a motherboard similar in size to a tablet motherboard.
- does this thread serve for any purpose other than crapping on a device you most likely got for free / for a very nice price? like.. is there a question here?
- even on higher power lightweight laptops (imply "anything that doesnt have a high power GPU").. a major part if not *the* major part of the power budget is going to the display backlight.

WkdPaul reacted to 387 in Blue screens during Windows installation with new computer
I did run memtest, both sticks passed.
I also tried installing Linux, thinking maybe it's something related to Windows specific, but it just stops as soon as I start installation from boot.

Got my sisters Christmas present, Lenovo yoga 7i
16” 2560x1600 display, i5 1240p, 8gb of ram and a 256gb ssd
it causes me physical pain to spend this much on such meh specs though the display is 10/10
and I know she’ll like it, it fits her needs of a larger display, good battery life and a number pad
she’s currently using some hp laptop with a 1366x768 display and an i5 8350u which performs fine but that display is ass and she wants to draw on it

I ordered YMDKEY keycaps. It may take a few weeks the caps to get here from China. I ordered two sets:
PBT - OEM - DOUBLE SHOT - backlight shine through
These are going on my 2013 Max Blackbird keyboard which currently has
ABS - OEM - DOUBLE SHOT - backlight shine through - Cherry MX Brown switches with North face LED
*Edit:
Here it is with the new YMDK carbon color scheme:
They're not making this keyboard anymore but here is a link to it:

We usually don't discuss moderation publicly, but for transparency purposes ;
The subject isn't Tech News, that's why it's in the off-topic section, it was originally locked but seeing at it was reposted twice, we decided to merge and unlock, and we're keeping an eye on it.
IMO, it will 100% eventually be locked again, it's really just a matter of time, but we're giving members the benefit of the doubt, hoping they'll prove us wrong.

WkdPaul reacted to Sauron in Elon Musk starts banning critical journalists (Washington Post, NY Times, CNN) from Twitter
There isn't much to say, obviously Musk's words about supposedly protecting free speech were hollow and nonsensical and anyone paying attention knew this from the start. In reality he just wanted the people he likes on the platform and the people he doesn't off it. Like a child with unimaginable power.

Since nobody seems to want to discuss the thread matter (journalists being banned) and rather talk about the ElonJet account, and before it devolves further into pointless bickering ;

"Flight radars" are around since the mid 2000s. The Twitter account of FlightRadar24 is still going strong, openly advertising the tracking of hundreds of aircraft in REAL TIME!
This was a petty move from Elon, you know it, I know it and maybe we can stop making up excuses.
Which you have proven? Ah, no, it was a pseudo fact you created out of thin air two posts ago to support your argument. Maybe we can stop doing this?
Your point is already homoeopathically thin; watering it down further with this kind of BS is completely pointless.

King of Seas is FREE right now on GOG. 57% Mixed reviews on Steam... Link.
Free to keep when claimed before Monday, December 19th.
King of Seas is an ARPG set in a deadly procedurally generated pirate world. Published by Team17, it also released on PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Seems the negative reviews are due to a large amount of people that have issues with a developer abandoning a single player game.

WkdPaul reacted to tkitch in What is your favorite gaming brand for mice?
Buying products because of the brand is a huge mistake.
buy a product because it's good.
Corsair PSUs? Generally really good.
Corsair RAM? Generally pretty bad.
Don't buy a brand. Buy a product.
