Easiest thing you can try is using MSI Afterburner and setting a custom fan curve. The card mfg may also have their own software you can use. If you do this, keep an eye on temps when you change the curve. Obviously cooler is better but you can safely run up to about 70-80C.

I mean they're rated for the same speeds so I guess with the right cooling they should run around the same speeds and since it's gen 4 I doubt I'll even be noticing a big difference in performance anyways.

The samsung 980pro was actually my initial choice for the pc but after a bit of looking I saw the sn850 with the same speeds plus a heat sink so I thought that it was just better value since for gen 4 m.2's I know they can run really hot and I don't want it to thermal throttle.

Gen 4 is huge, if your motherboard supports it. Additionally, heat sinks are cheap enough to buy aftermarket or the motherboards often come with them as part of the chipset cooler. Ultimately your choice but just something to keep in mind.

Samsung drives are rarely worth the price. A 970 evo is $150. You can buy a decent Gen 4 drive for that price. Don't generalize WD, that's like saying Antec makes bad PSUS because they aren't a huge company.

stock is abysmal in the U.S. It's only good at microcenter. Everywhere else is craxy expensive, for exmaple Ryzen 5 3600s go for around $280.

I know in the US you can find 1080's second-hand easily for around $300 USD which comes to about $280 EUR. Do some shopping around if you're patient enough and you'll find the right card. I've been running a 1070 I found on Craigslist for $200 for the last 2 years and can still run COD MW on just under max settings at ~100 FPS.

I believe my bios are up to date cuz it's x570 pro carbon wifi- a quite new board
I'm also using meshify c from fractal design. 4 case fans blow in 1 blow out
after reading your comment, I believe the reason could just be more cores that 3900x have. if 3700x raised to 84c in full load, I think it won't be surprising that 3900x have higher temps at full load. I won't be torturing my CPU that frequently after all. I think won't be a huge issue as long as my temps don't go crazy under normal usage
thanks! you guys helped me a lot.

The bios update seems to have done it. Memtest86 showed 0 errors in 4 passes of full tests, with XMP. One day when I have a little more patience, I'm gonna try to bench against what I can get stable with Ryzen calc, just to see the improvements. I'll let you guys know if I ever get around to it.

Thanks for all the help and comments

If this doesn't work, disable XMP and manually overclock your RAM as high as you can go testing with memtest86+ for stability.

After looking into it a little more, I agree with your evaluation. The encoding on NVENC is great compared to H264.

I can hear the liquid moving for sure. When the system starts and the side is off you can hear the liquid being moved about.

For reference this is in a Lian-Li PC O-11 Dynamic.

Thanks for the feedback. My research seems to agree with yours. I had just heard that Ryzen was mis-reporting its temps some time ago.

The motherboard doesn't actually measures the CPU temperature, it measures the socket temperature. And there are 2 types of temperature, CPU temperature and package temperature reported by HWmonitor. I might be wrong but from my brief google search it seems that package temperature measures the core with the highest temperature while CPU temperature measures the overall (average of all cores) temperature.

It's a bit tough to work with but gets the job done I suppose. Funny that I can justify spending hundreds on a system but not on proper cleaning equipment for the mobo and CPU.

The main difference is it have ray tracing and 1070Ti not, it's about the same according to benchmarks.

RTX on the 2060 is useless though. Unless you're okay with 720p to stay over 60 fps.

You should use a cardioid. They have the best sound. Go to a store like George's Music or Guitar Center and talk to the guy at the microphone counter. They are very knowledgable.

The Snowball and Meteor are amazing mics for their price, and 3kliksphillip did a test to see if the Meteor or the Yeti had a noticeable difference and there is a very small, nearly impossible to hear difference unless you listen for it.
