Slottr got a reaction from silencer12 in How good is this psu
Platinum is just an efficiency rating, it has zero relation to the quality of the unit.

Slottr got a reaction from WhiteKeen in New headset
The audiophile market has a lot more to offer sound quality wise. If this is an option, 560S’ are pretty endgame as far as casual gaming is concerned
granted if you want a headset, that is totally fine. Another pair of cloud 2’s is viable. I’d maybe also consider PC38X’s

Slottr reacted to Dedayog in Potential Amazon day build
I know you're a mod and can't condone the 'Bay, but at least comment that you don't have to give Shitsoft $99 for their OS. 🙂 Unactivated for the win!!!!
Are you sold on those Logitech peripherals? For that price, you can get a very nice mechanical keyboard with switches YOU want.
Also, for your price point, you can get a really well built and gorgeous case to house all this. 4000D is meh.

Slottr got a reaction from Andrewtst in 1440p or 4k monitor recommendations
There just arent any 24" 1440 gaming displays, same goes for 4K.
What GPU? If you're not running a 4090 or 7900 XTX, you won't want 4K. Your performance won't be consistently high enough.

Slottr reacted to Andrewtst in 1440p or 4k monitor recommendations
You already found the answer yourself. They do have but very rare especially with below spec request.
Your request spec basically only available for at least 27".

Slottr reacted to emosun in How to boot PC without support for integrated graphics?
the gpu displays an image without any drivers as the os and board support basic hardware functions to allow the screen to be viewable to do such a task
this was established during the plug and play era in the mid 1990s as a standard

Slottr got a reaction from Applefreak in Dual 2080s for 16BG VRAM?
Not how it works unfortunately - you still have 8GB VRAM either way
You’ll want to look at a new card if performance is lacking.

If your browser has hardware acceleration enabled then you'll see a larger use of processing power.

Slottr got a reaction from Fasauceome in Do CS programs require use of a certain OS? What about x86 vs. ARM?
I finished my undergrad with an M1 Air - I was entirely fine for the greater majority of things, however some libraries really rely on x86 and did cause some issues.
There wasn't anything on MacOS that I couldn't do, but there definitely were some bumps in the road caused by x86 vs ARM and the conversations Rosetta performs.
Operating system wise, you're never in a bad place to choose Linux or UNIX-based OS' in computer science. Its the standard.

Slottr got a reaction from Fasauceome in what buget gpu is good for a r7 3700x
Depends on budget and what you're doing.
Realistically you could stick a 4090 in the system
I'd get a 6700 XT or 6650 XT.

Slottr reacted to 191x7 in Looking for a new headset
The Sennheiser HD 560S are almost the best competitive fps headphones you can get.
And since those use a detachable cable, you can get a cable that has a microphone. Or you can use a desk microphone.
This if you don't need the pleb ingame stuff like hearing the direction, distance, elevation, sound separation, and so on.
Or if you're deaf. Want a disadvantage? Get Razer headphones, or Logitech, or Astro, or Steelseries.

Make sure the headset isn't muted via a physical switch
Try a different microphone port, and that its actually in a microphone port

Slottr got a reaction from d8nni in nothing is powering on pls help
If there is absolutely zero signs of power showing through 2 different PSU's I'd blame the board
(this is assuming you've done all the trivial troubleshooting of trying different outlets, cables, checking connections, etc.)

Slottr reacted to GuiltySpark_ in Server for Remote Desktop Streaming
Simply don’t use Remote Desktop. Try Parsec instead, works flawlessly for me locally. If you want a more completely local solution, you can try Sunshine on the server and run the Moonlight client where you intend to play the games.
Frankly I find Parsec to just be more seem less.
*edit
You want to run the machine headless... hmm, yeah I'm not sure about that without looking into it more.
