New headset

WhiteKeen

so recently my new dog chewed threw my hyper x cloud 2 cable and I absolutely loved this headset and I need a new pair but the ones I tried just don't sound as cared as the clouds 2, so what are some gaming headsets that are betted sounding than the clouds 2, a headset that I've tried was the steel series arctic pros and they just sound really dull compared to the cloud 2, I really was to experience new brands but it seem like I might go back to the cloud 2.

The audiophile market has a lot more to offer sound quality wise. If this is an option, 560S’ are pretty endgame as far as casual gaming is concerned

granted if you want a headset, that is totally fine. Another pair of cloud 2’s is viable. I’d maybe also consider PC38X’s

Kind of just sounds like you should buy another set of Cloud 2's since you love them so much.

You don't want to dip your toes in hi-fi audio... it gets expensive and you're never satisfied.

What is your budget? Is it the same as the Cloud 2?

In that price range you're looking at IEM's, Phillips SHP9600 or Fidelio X2HR if you can find an uber sale.  That is if you want to go for some "audiophile" grade headphones and pick up a cheap mic which I would recommend.  Headsets just aren't very accurate and can't do much very well, they usually excel at one thing and suck at everything else.

For IEM's I would ask @191x7 or @HAL90000, I will be able to give recommendations in the future but not yet lol.

If it's good at music, in general it will be as good as a gaming headset.

Honestly I LOVE the Rode NTH-100 and at that price it's a bargain and if you want to add a mic it's another $40

Be warned though that any headset with a shared cable runs the risk of bleed over from output to input, it's due to the shared ground in the cable.  This headphone had a controversial start in production because the ratcheting mechanism was cracking, My newest pair doesn't have that issue so far as I know, I gave it to my nephew and he hasn't broken it.

No wonder the Cloud 2 sounded better than the Arctis Pro, the Cloud 2 (originals, not the HP ones) are the Takstar Pro 80 monitoring headphones that are actually good enough for slight competitive gaming. The SteelSeries audio products, like other "gaming" brand audio products, do not focus on sound quality and they are not for competitive, they are good for immersion in single-player games.

Products from Sennheiser, Bose, Beyerdynamic, Koss, AKG, and Audio-Technica are "real headphones" while the products from Razer, Logitech, Steelseries, Astro, Roccat, and such are "gaming brands". Gaming brand headphones usually do not focus on sound quality, their sound signatures are the least important thing for the company.

The Sennheiser HD 560S are amongst the best headphones for competitive gaming, especially FPS. And they are cheap at just about 150$.

And they can be made into a headset by just using an HD 560/598 cable with an integrated microphone. Those cables cost about $20.

Going that route isn't wrong, but the Cloud 2 is also dipping toes into hi-fi since it's Takstar Pro 80.

IEM-s like the QKZ x HBB ($20) compete with the Cloud headsets for gaming, and might be even better if not using the Cloud on a good audio source.

The Truthear Crinale Zero IEM ($50) beats the Clouds in any regard, but those need a really strong source.

The 7Hz Salnotes Zero IEM ($20) is also a good competitor for some gaming.

Use good headphones for gaming. Or good IEM-s. Avoid "gaming brand headphones". Gaming brand headphones offer a disadvantage.

Usually better, but not as good as some headphones that are actually good for gaming.

Gaming headsets are not good for music and they usually perform terribly for games.

Most gaming headsets have terrible distancing, and elevation and it often happens that sounds overlap so some sound might mask another weaker one.

With the QKZ x HBB, HD 560s, and all others I've mentioned, you get the feel of exactly where the sound is coming from, and all sounds.

Some notable mentions are the Beyerdnymic DT 900 Pro, the DT 990, and the DT 1990.

If the headphones need to be closed back, the DT 770 or the Cloud or Audio Technica M50X.

But if closed, IEM-s are way better options.
