just game at 1080 for now..., just because it has 4K res, that doesn't mean you have to have 4K res for everything you do on it. #PCMasterBlasphemy

Well what people forget is that you can have 4K for work, and then for games, play them 1080p.
The monitor is 4x 1080p, so dropping the resolution from 4K down to 1080p won't be blurry, as you are using 4 pixels to form 1.
Sure it wont' be super ultra sharp, but I said gaming, not work... work at 1080 on it, is a waste of money, just get a normal 1080p monitor, or better yet 1920x1200 (16:10) monitor.

What I find interesting is that the 24inch cost less than the 27inch. higher the pixel density, means the panel cost more to produce, yet it is is cheaper.
If I was looking to buy a monitor, I would get the 24inch one for maximum pixel density for the smoothest text, and detail icons and images (like high resolution displays on smartphones).
    For 5K I might jump to 27/28inch.

Dell is now offering 60Hz 4k monitor starting at $599 for the 24 inch model and and extra $100 for the 27 inch model. What makes these special? They are IPS.

Best part is that you can buy them on Dell website RIGHT NOW! The only downside is that the stand doesnt feature height adjust but fortunately Dell didn't commit of sin of not including a vesa mount. For more details, the link to Dells store is below for both versions along with the TechReport article as well.

MasterJV reacted to bob345 in Best black wrinkle finish. No Powder coating!
Well, pretty much i found what seems to be the best black wrinkle finish paint that you can get without powder coating. Its called vht wrinkle plus and the finish is just as good and just as durable as the powder coated finishes. It is extremely easy to apply and there is only really one extra step over using normal spray paint which is too bake it for an hour after a 24 hour cure time. So if you are trying to get a black wrinkle finish on a case or any kind of thing really, i highly recommend this paint.

    Hey everyone!

I have a nice little update for you. I have been hard at work painting and clear coating these last few days, but have not had so much time to get so many photos. I am doing all of this at my workplace before/after work and during lunch breaks and whenever I get a free minute to spare.

In this update I show that I painted the inside of the case from black to white... And oh my does it look mighty fine!

I am in the process of painting the fans and top/bottom panels, and clear coating the painted PSU and redone front panel. I will have photos of those after the weekend for your viewing pleasure.

I hope you have liked this update

    Kind regards,

Got a sweet little update for you today

Whilst I could only grab one picture before both my lights and camera ran out of battery (really should have charged those last night), I hope it explains why I'm just a little bit happy tonight.  Well, that and the Halo Master Chief Collection is released at midnight (WoWoWoOoO!), definitely going to be playing the heck out of that, been a Halo fan since 01, can't shake it.

I'm not sure I follow what you mean in the first question, may want to rephrase it a bit.  Material wise, as I mentioned earlier it depends, but probably acrylic or plycarbonate currently.  This is likely to change though as my tools and capabilities change also.

Hehe, well to be fair it did go for pretty much a whole month without any real comments.  Bah like you can complain, you've been hogging all the comments for ages now

Honestly, it may sound like a bit of a plug, but I would tell them to visit /r/watercooling on reddit.  I find the reddit format works better for questions and the like.  We've also spent a tonne of time and effort setting up links to useful resources for beginners, along with an extensive finished build gallery.  Currently we have well over 200 builds posted there, all arranged by case and brand, meaning it's really easy to find out what people may have done in your chosen case.  We also have a more exclusive choice gallery where we showcase the more exceptional builds, again handy for inspiration.

As for brands, EK are hard to go wrong with tbh, as are Bitspower.  Alphacool has been a bit 50/50 recently with some people having pH problems with their rads.  Personally I swear by them, but I also haven't bought one in a while so they may have changed.  Aquacomputer also make some very high quality goods, their GPU blocks are works of art, although I'm still not a fan of how they don't cover the whole PCB.

Probably about £1600?  Whilst it's a lot, it's not excessive as frankly the hardware is pretty reasonable, no massive TriSLI setup here with 3x Quad rads and dual loops.

I'm actually not planning on adding lighting to the build as IMO it doesn't really need it.  The RAM comes with lighting installed, which is more than enough.  Remember that because it's completely open, lighting is much stronger, there's also nothing to cover up the hardware and cause a lot of shade.  It would just end up being turned off as it would be too intrusive.

Given unlimited tools and resources eh?  Well, it wouldn't make it boring for me as I would simply change the goalposts.  I design my mods around what I can feasibly manage with what I have or might be able to pick up.  If say I had access to a massive 5 axis milling machine along with a 1 tonne billet of aluminium, I would happily create a desk the likes of which nobody had ever seen.  Since the tooling wouldn't be a problem, I would settle on trying to make the idea as complex as possible so as to remain a serious challenge.

Acrylic all the way, doubt I'd be able to go back to flexible tubing now.

Clearly when it fell on the floor and shattered...

More seriously, it's probably the first filling of either block.  Seeing the fluid pass through the block successfully is just such an amazing feeling, up until then it's nerve wracking as hell.

I'll see if I can answer the remaining questions tomorrow with an update

    Speaking of which...

    UPDATE!

So today I finished off everything I needed for the block to function, and did a test fill.  IT WAS A SUCCESS!  Not a single leak and unlike the last version, the air filtered out of the loop really quickly.  You'll obviously still be able to see all the little clinging bubbles here, but that's because it had only been running for an hour or so.  I used blue because it's a strong dye that's easy to see.  I'd have had to use pretty much the whole bottle of yellow to be able to see anything at all.  I'm also going to order some special washers tomorrow to replace the standard ones I'm using currently, I'll take some photos when they arrive, you may approve of them.

Nice. Though the green led really stands out. There's a mod that makes the green LEDs on the GPU turn white on the forum. I think you just get some sand paper and rub it until it turns grey, but look up the mod to make sure you do it right.

So...The trays are painted and fitted with some 25mm spacers until the acrylic arrives.
Also, first time out for the grey backdrop with all that yellow!

Nate@ turned these around very quickly for me,I thought the renders looked cool but to see it in the case has made up my mind that I am on the right track.

I marbled the rad sides and made a graphic for them, jury is out as to whether I use it or not...thats a job for after fitment and a little look-see.

Due to the incredibly tight space in the frame,I reckon that if I use 20" of tube I will be amazed!

And that's why they won't become successful modders who've made names for themselves.

Even the ugliest or most difficult to work with case can be transformed into a work of art if it gets into the right hands.  Not only have you chosen a challenging case, but a crazy colour scheme that nobody in their right mind would want.  But you know what?  You're bloody making it work that's for sure, never would have thought I would gain an appreciation for neon yellow rofl.
