Sounds great. I'll put this on hold for a month or so and check back in when Coffee Lake releases.

Ryzen 5 1600 (6 core 12 thread) + B350 mobo +16GB 2800 / 3000MHz RAM should cost around $400.
Ryzen 3 1200 (4 core 4 thread) + B350 mobo + 16GB 2800 / 3000MHz RAM should cost around $300.
AM4 will get new CPUs up till 2020, so it's better than Intel's current offerings. If you can wait then you can wait for Coffee Lake which will be available in about a month, and see what's what.

Do you want something with an upgrade path for the future or no? If yes it'd be best to go with something with ddr4, if not you could go with something older and reuse the ddr3

DimitriBrut got a reaction from ARikozuM in UPS Suggestions?
Good information... I'll pick up a second the day I build the extra rig.
Very helpful, thank you.
My PC seems to have a rough time recovering when it isn't shut down properly... Takes a few extra minutes to get on its feet. I'd like avoid that
Not sure, I'll have to check that out when I get home.

DimitriBrut got a reaction from partypanda64 in Is there a G Sync version of this LG Ultrawide?
Bummer. Thanks for the info. It's for my old man... I don't think he'd even notice the difference.

To reduce noise, you'd be better off with air cooling at low RPMs. But you're right. You can't beat the awesome look of a custom loop. Water pumps can be loud. Dial in the speed for your workload.

I prefer the third... it's what I did. Is there going to be a GPU in this build? I always get nervous when I see a res that doesn't feed directly into the pump.

what is the pc going to be used for? and unless you will be transferring large files with a high speed server or another nvme drive you wont see much benefit with the 950 ssd
edit: nvm you already bought the parts ok this is a pretty impressive no compromises build

You're the best! I actually Already have the other half of the PC. It's going in a Define S And I'm going to use my Corsair... 870A? Something like that... Got the full custom water loop planned out too.. But I'll definitely run through your suggestions.

DimitriBrut reacted to Captain_WD in M.2 newb looking for ideas
Hello
M.2 is a form factor for a SSD. What I would recommend is to do some research and see if the motherboard supports NVMe based M.2 drives or if the drive is handled by the SATA controller.
If the M.2 drive is handled by the SATA controller it will be limited to about 600MB/s while if it's working with the PCIe lanes it should grand you over 2GB/s so I'd check with the motherboard if it supports that.
For more info on this I'd check some info regarding socket and connector types of M.2 drives ( B key, M key, B&M key ) and the abilities of each of them and if the specific motherboard is using the PCIe or the SATA connection to communicate with the SSD.

DimitriBrut reacted to never_here in Windows forced an upgrade. Now no internet
I think i may know what happened here... what happened to me was, a few days ago, i turn on pc after i didn't for the weekend, and it popped up the "update to windows 10!!!!!" shit. i was about to close it, but i noticed something different....
i was in shock... I quickly googled it, and found out how to disable this. but you might have closed it, and not noticed this, or didn't open your computer a few days, and missed it, and it already started the upgrade as you turned on your pc.

Looks great. As for adhesive zip ties, I'd take a page out of Barnacules' book. I hot glued velcro ties under my desk

DimitriBrut got a reaction from d3sl91 in Verizon won't hook up my Unlocked Nexus 9?
Thanks guys. I didn't really read about the update, but I did install it. I'll head to a different one in the morning.
That's sort of a bummer. I feel like they'd get much more business (not that they really need it) if they were more open like AT&T. I hate having my options limited by the carrier.

Haha. Clash is the reason I bought the nexus 9 sadly... I'm an addict myself. Also, do you have an antivirus you recommend?

Interesting. Maybe I'll just go with a single 512 PRO. I'd prefer something that'll last longer and has the greater guarantee. Thank you both a ton for your speedy and helpful responses
