Which orientation!

I kinda like it facing out from a looks standpoint if that's what you're asking.  It looks like the location may interfere with the GPU though.
Facing up looks like it blocks the least amount of air flow and would possibly be easiest to connect.
However, I think it would probably be better up nearer the cpu and reservoir so more air can flow to the GPU.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

The third photo looks the best in my opinion. It also keeps the wires facing away from view.

To reduce noise, you'd be better off with air cooling at low RPMs. But you're right. You can't beat the awesome look of a custom loop. Water pumps can be loud. Dial in the speed for your workload.
