alexgscraft got a reaction from RetroSmoo in Gaming on the Surface Book
I am considering getting the Surface Book for productivity purpose, but I am also considering it for some light gaming. Does anyone here have one?

My Questions are how much fps would you get in games such as Hearthstone,League of Legends and Counter Strike Global Offensive. Either at native resolution or 1080p. Would these games run at 60 fps at medium settings?

I am not sure if I should get the regular I5 version or the version with the dGPU.

Which exact series of FLI Microline camera?  What sort of telescope?

I can help you set things up correctly for astrophotography, I've done it several times with my DSLR.  But this is the first time I've seen anyone using a Microline for it.

I also suggest you go and post this question on a proper astrophotography/stargazer forum.  I'm certain there are many more people experienced with using such a camera there than on this non-photography forum.

Looks quite good, but do you really need a 280mm cpu cooler, and any reputable powersupply will be ok, evga, corsair, etc. I would say about 500 watts.

alexgscraft reacted to Super in My Ghetto PC Build (Last Summer)
I built a PC around this time last year and the parts are the following:

    AMD FX6300
    8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport Ram
    Gigabyte GA-78lmt USB 3 mATX rev 5
MSI GTX 750ti Factory OC TWIN FROZR
    Thermaltake Commander MS-l Epic Edition
    500w Evga Bronze 80+ PSU

The PC is very basic and probably will get a lot of bash for how underpowered it is but however I think it's pretty ghetto that I scrapped this together for around 400$ (500$ included tax and monitor and stuff) last year (I got the best prices last year, now you can definitely get the same parts for cheaper or better parts for the same price especially since RAM prices have slashed in half. I got the set for around 70$, now you can find it for around 50$.)

The graphics card is pretty garbage, I think they overkilled with the twin frozr cooler on a gtx 750 ti, I mean like who's gonna overclock a low profile card? However aesthetically it looks pretty nice and my build has like a red theme but it looks cheap (being that it is.)

The monitor I use is like barely even like borderline capable for gaming (22" AOC 1080p monitor) it's really small and has only a refresh rate of 60 Hz, it's TN so it's not even IPS.

My peripherals are also extremely cheap with a Thermaltake illuminated membrane keyboard that has macros, it was like 25$ but got it on sale for 10$. (Tt eSports Commander Prime)

And my mouse is a Redragon Centrophorus ~20$

So basically how budget (ghetto) can you get before you start dumpster diving for parts???

I'll soon be upgrading to a Corsair H100i water cooler. In the future when I'm minted I'll put in a custom loop.

    everything connected ready to route.

    Finished front.

Finished back. The cables look very messy but there's nothing to cool down there.

Done. I missed some cable management photos but you get the idea.

Now the 980Ti HOF is air-cooled and it's white and silver not blue and white, and the 980Ti EX WC is water-cooled.

I think Galax HOF cards have a great design ( white almost everything ) and is a good OCing card from what I've seen, and the water-cooled card is a great edition for water-cooling enthusiasts that want a white card.

I've found a used 980 G1 for 450€ ( it usually goes for 650+ in Europe) . It's fresh out of RMA , 34 months of warranty left , the catch is that it's got coil whine. Should i go for it? At that price it's a steal , or should i wait for AMDs' new cards?
