I built a PC around this time last year and the parts are the following:

AMD FX6300

8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport Ram

Gigabyte GA-78lmt USB 3 mATX rev 5

MSI GTX 750ti Factory OC TWIN FROZR

Thermaltake Commander MS-l Epic Edition

500w Evga Bronze 80+ PSU

The PC is very basic and probably will get a lot of bash for how underpowered it is but however I think it's pretty ghetto that I scrapped this together for around 400$ (500$ included tax and monitor and stuff) last year (I got the best prices last year, now you can definitely get the same parts for cheaper or better parts for the same price especially since RAM prices have slashed in half. I got the set for around 70$, now you can find it for around 50$.)

The graphics card is pretty garbage, I think they overkilled with the twin frozr cooler on a gtx 750 ti, I mean like who's gonna overclock a low profile card? However aesthetically it looks pretty nice and my build has like a red theme but it looks cheap :/ (being that it is.)

The monitor I use is like barely even like borderline capable for gaming (22" AOC 1080p monitor) it's really small and has only a refresh rate of 60 Hz, it's TN so it's not even IPS.

My peripherals are also extremely cheap with a Thermaltake illuminated membrane keyboard that has macros, it was like 25$ but got it on sale for 10$. (Tt eSports Commander Prime)

And my mouse is a Redragon Centrophorus ~20$

So basically how budget (ghetto) can you get before you start dumpster diving for parts???

I may have the same monitor as you xD.

And if it is the same, you can overclock it to 75Hz.

The stars died for you to be here today.

Nice build for the price, this PC can do just about anything as long as you don't mind turning some graphics settings down. Outside of gaming this thing is really good, you could even do some video editing. :)

I can go lower by dropping Windows, going 4GB of ram, R7 260 (won't go lower as this is my bare minimum card), and possibly going with 500GB of storage.

Only reason I didn't mod the list, is because I'm too lazy

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

Yeah then again right now everything you can get for cheaper of better parts for the same price, but that is a good budget build as well! I'm thinking of a mini itx gaming pc build this summer to do so nice recommendations though!

My build was similar. I had to get peripherals and all sorts of things along with it so I didn't have as much money to dedicate to the pc. I had to get a headset, a mouse, a keyboard, a cd drive, a GOOD wifi card which I spent $50 total on, in hopes I would get something of higher quality.

(running a cable was and is not an option...) Oh and not to mention the taxes are high as anything in Canada.

I went with a FX-6300 and a R9 270X and 8GB of dual channel ram. Really balanced if you ask me. I made this last year.

Basically it was like this:

$600 = PC

$150~ = Extra stuff (Peripherals and Wifi card, that sort of thing)

$200 = Tax :(

I'm in the process of ordering parts for a build, it looks kinda like this..

CPU - AMD FX-8320, $179

GPU - Club 3D r9 380 4gb, $269

RAM - Kingston HyperX 8gb/16gb, $200

PSU - (modded) Thermaltake TR-2 500w, $40

MOBO - MSI 970 gaming, $122

CASE - NZXT s340, $90

MOUSE - (Using old mouse)

STORAGE - 1x Kingston ssd 120, 500gb seagate, $100

COOLING - undecided (budget of 150 for now)

MONITOR - what ever cheap and works

HEADSET - Astro A30(no mixamp) $120

KEYBOARD - old school PS2 mechanical, $Free

Total: about a grand for everything.. (If I had an extra monitor or other stuff the total could come down but this is my first desktop in over 10 years.. So no handmedown parts..)

Ohh really? Yeah tax definitely did also bump up my PC cost by a bunch and I spent around 40 bucks on 2 usb wifi adapters finding out one of them broke. Yeah ethernet is a problem for my room as well. Is your pricing in USD?

Haha yeah that sounds pretty cool. I like your case btw. And that was the CPU I would have gotten if only I had that extra monies! Nice build

I am thinking of a similar build for my main rig to replace my x3, gtx 520

Microcenter has that cpu and that MB for 99 bucks

vid card will depends on whats on sale.

cheapest i3 combo is like 200 and I cant see spending that

8 gig ram and an open box card in the 150 range with 8 gig ran will put my upgrade at about 300 bucks

Oh and once your married you may find yourself overclocking a GTX 520:)
