User: My monitors aren't working, they were working before. IT come fix it.
Me: Okay let me see what the issue is
User has dual display monitors. So I followed the first cable from the back of monitor one all the way to...... the back of monitor 2..... interesting cable management. So where is the second monitor cable?
Displayport to DVI adapter lead it back to the second DVI port on the video card.
I looked at him and his face was red. FYI this user is a developer. /facepalm

Back when I was working at my local Canada Computers, this mom and son come in to buy a computer. Said no when I offered the service of building it for him assuming he didn't know how to build a computer. The mom claims he's a computer wiz and he's going to be in computer engineering when he goes to university. This kid was probably 10. Walked out with the parts, comes back a couple of days later to the service desk saying his computer doesn't work. Didn't mount the motherboard properly, didn't screw all the motherboard screws in and he screwed it directly to the board with no stand offs. Killed the board in the process. When asked why he didn't use standoffs for the board he replies "What is that?" Half his components fried when the PSU short circuited from the fact the motherboard was mounted improperly. Ended up buying all new components and having us repair it for him. so that was a pretty expensive lesson for the kid.

Also, had this girl come in asking for a 2 Tarobyte hard drive. I was so close in asking whether she wanted tapioca with her hard drive.

I have tons of these. lol

The A+ test is a point based test with no right or wrong answer. They're all technically correct with 1 being the best answer. You get points just for filling in the circle.

That being said the A+ test is a joke of a test focusing majority of the questions on troubleshooting techniques and customer service. At least that's what it looked like when I took the test.

When I took the test there was very little networking related questions and no programming questions.

I only studied the first couple of chapters and forced myself to do the test before they stopped offering the permanent certification. Now you have to renew every 3 years while mine is lifetime  I am pretty sure anyone can pass that test with ease.

    Good luck on your test!

Here's a handy tip if you have a gmail account.

yourname@gmail.com and yourname@googlemail.com is the same.

From that you can use your.name@gmail.com or your.name@googlemail.com

placing a "." anywhere between "yourname" in any variation also directs you to your main yourname@gmail.com

    From that you can use
    y.o.u.r.n.a.m.e@gmail.com; y.o.u.r.n.a.m.e@googlemail.com any variations.

also a "+whatever" between "yourname" and "@" also directs email to yourname@gmail.com

based on those near infinite possibility with gmail you can create yourname+spam@gmail.com and for temp occasions and then create a filter to auto delete emails directed to that address without it affecting anything else.

but no, you generally cann't bypass website logins since you won't be authenticated to their system to connect online.

If the phone is only designed for 1a charging capability, The charger will regulate the power flow to 1amp to avoid over charging the phone outside it's designed specs. It will only charge at 2.1amps if the phone is designed for it.

It's the same if you were to charge a phone with one of those quick charge adapters. It will never use the fast charging methods unless the device was designed for it.

They don't need to have people dedicated to torrent their own content to catch pirates. Torrent in itself is pretty much open to the public. Anyone with the torrent opened, download/uploading or not can see EVERYONE else's (downloading or uploading) ip address. They plant a fake seeder into the torrent in question and a simple script can then log every single ip address it sees, cross-reference it to see which ISP is responsible for issuing that IP Address and an automated email is sent to them without a single user on their end interacting with the actual torrenting. Obviously those companies frown upon p2p.

They send those to try and scare people into paying the "fine" to settle it or "risk" going to trial, which has yet to happen. They've been doing this for years and I believe the court has already established that an IP (especially since residential ISP services uses dynamic IP address) is not a valid way to identify an individual to committing the crime.

I played with a few of the international versions when I had them at work. Though it was the slower model 2GB and 16GB storage. Performance wise it was really smooth. But the brightness was on the lower side compared to other phones.

One of the biggest concerns I had was actually with thermals. Did you find the phone runs warm after extended use or was it fine for you?

I tried the Zenfone 2 at work a few weeks ago and it performed pretty well. Though it was only the 2GB model. The Atom chip did was noticeably warmer after using it for a bit.  But according to the many reviews out there, no one has complained that the performance of the Atom SoC as being bad. They've all had pretty good things to say about it. Major issue is Bloat. Don't know why ASUS decide to bloat the hell out of the phone putting so much additional software you can't remove. I guess that's how they are able to sell it at that price.

Zenfone 2's IPS screen at full brightness is not very bright. probably not good for outdoor viewing. FYI

The SoC according to benchmarks is comparable to the Snapdragon 801 which would put it in good competition against the OnePlus One. But the Zenfone 2 does have the extra GB of memory advantage over the OPO with 3GBs. Storage capacity is the same but Zenfone 2 has the extra microSD expansion slot.

Battery life might be an issue though. However, the Zenfone 2 does run on an x86-64 processor and the higher end model has 4GBs of RAM and 64GB of storage. Someone could theoretically unlock the bootloader and potentially put Windows 10 on it. That could be interesting...

On the other hand the OPO is a great phone and it's only $50 more than the Zenfone 2 ZE551ML with the 4GB of RAM.   Go with whichever one you think looks nicer. Performance wise the 4GB model zenfone is about on par with the OPO.

Vengeance is the SKU Corsair had before they rebranded their products under the Corsair Gaming brand with a new logo. Some people didn't like the new yellow logo as it doesn't change colors so it clashes with their RGB keys.

Vengeance still has the Corsair sail logo which some people prefer.

But they're exactly the same. Just rebranded.
