Hello all! Long time LTT fan, new to the forum. I wanted to share my build, as it's really been a labor of love for the past month. I trash picked it from a local computer store in December, and it's come a long way since then.

It started life in 21 years ago 1995 with a 486dx2 running at a mind blistering 66mhz, with a massive 4mb ram, and 1mb video memory. The 3.5 floppy disk could hold a maximum data capacity of 1.44MB. As of a few days ago, it now has a an Intel i7 6700k running at 4.3ghz, 16GB's of 3000mhz ddr4 ram, and 8GB's video memory. The 3.5 floppy drive can read up to 512GB of data from a single diskette. This was not a plug & play build. Massive amounts of cutting, fabrication, welding, grinding, a filing were required. It was awesome.

Here's the full build with gifs for proper demonstrations of the floppy drive in action: http://imgur.com/a/fvh1M

I got a BenQ RL2455HM and colours, in my opinion, are very good once you sort them out to your liking.

@Yames I found a restore I did before installing the Intel rapid storage technology driver and just restored it. Then just deleted the files that were in my D: drive. And all fixed

WinBeta reports that Paul Thurrott from Winsupersite.com talk to Microsoft onto why people are in a waiting list for the Windows 10 update, and why some don't even get the 'Get Windows 10' icon.
Microsoft responded that the reason is that they know the hardware configurations where Windows 10 will work great out of the box. Sadly there is a pool of hardware/drivers that aren't ready for Windows 10, and those system don't have the icon or put into a waiting list
    Paul Thurrott says:

So for those who forced update or decided to take the ISO path and are having problems, well that is why.

It's a big chunk of metal for not that much money.

The bequiet mounting system isn't heavenly either. But if you can hold a nut with a wrench and use a screwdriver on the other side, it will be much more comfortable than the 212 EVO mounting.

Just make sure that the Shadow Rock 2 doesn't interfere with your RAM. You can position the fan up higher if needed though.

@Nomy man, that's depressing to hear. Guess I will just stick to my original plan of keeping the pc and save up for a ps4 to get next year or the year after. Thanks for the info anyway.

Euh yeah sorry to say but that won't happen, especially with new series of GPUs coming out your current GPU will get quite a value hit(or so it should, we have yet to wait and see).
But the loss will definitly be over £30 sadly enough. I was estimating a loss of a £100 give or take. Though as a whole you could try to sell it as a business PC considering it has nice parts in it, but I'm not sure how well received complete builds are on ebay.

oh right, then i would go for the son xperia Z2 and try out the os, but if you dont like it you can always flash CyanogenMod onto it and have a pure android experience.

the moto g is a very good phone for your needs, i think you should try it out in a store if you can. Its a solid phone for the price you pay and the build quality is good enough to last you for a couple of years.

hardware_guy got a reaction from Exansis in [Solved] need to get a ISO file of windows 8 64 bit
if you want the iso file on a DVD, select the ISO file option, but if you wan the iso file on a usb drive then select the USB Drive option.

And also if you are installling a 64bit version of windows, you will need to do this on a 64bit pc.

Once you have got the iso file onto the usb, you may not need to use the Windows 7 download tool. Check your usb on a normal pc to see what files there on it, if it looks like this then you will not need to use the Windows 7 download tool:

hardware_guy reacted to Mao_Zedong in How overpriced is alienware? Price comparison
I decided to look at every computer alienware has, and look at the price of the best alternative I could find. these are the results. I have custom desktops, but if you want a prebuilt, just add around $100 for ncix. I am using both the cheapest and most expensive options available.

First if the cheapest Alienware Aurora Gaming Desktop. It is $1500, but you can get a similar pc for $1200 here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DdhKK8

Second is the most expensive version of the Alienware Aurora Gaming Desktop. It is $5480, but you can get a similar pc for $4416 here http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pNfhFT

Next is the cheapest Alienware X51 Gaming Desktop. It is $700, and to get one custom it is $697 here http://pcpartpicker.com/p/C9gzhM (i couldn't find the silverstone raven rvz01 on pcpp, but it is $85)

Next is the most expensive Alienware X51 Gaming Desktop it $1487 is but you can get a similar one for $1202 here http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dJc4YJ (i think it may have been an incompatibility, but the case is $85)

The first laptop is the cheapest Alienware 14. it costs $1100, but you can buy the lenovo Y410p for $920. It has a bigger hdd, faster cpu, and better screen, though the keyboard isn't rgb.

Second is the most expensive Alienware 14. I couldn't find another with that cpu, so this is a slightly below max model. It costs $2200, and you can get an msi gs60 ghost (buy two 512gb SSDs) for the same price. The msi will have more storage space and is much thinner and lighter, the alianware has a very slightly better cpu and gpu, but is has less storage.

Next is the cheapest Alienware 17. It costs $1500, but you can get an asus G750JM for $1279. The asus has slightly better specs, the only disadvantage is that it doesn't have an rgb keyboard.

Next is the most expensive Alienware 17. It costs $4350, but you can get a sager NP9570 for $3484. The sager can also be upgraded some.

Finally is the Alienware 18s, there are no other 18" laptops that i know of, but you can get a sager NP9570 with dual gpus if thats what you need.

most of the alternitives could be replaced with sager laptops, but its good to have variety, and sager isn't perfect (though better than alienware).
