stevena184 got a reaction from da na in Experiences with non-techies
An old guy brought a printer from us, I asked what OS he has, he said I don't know, I said is it XP, Vista or 7? He said none of them ring a bell, I then said, it isn't Windows 8 is it? He said that sounds like it... anyway, he came back a couple of days later saying it wont work, the CD doesn't work and neither do the drivers... he then told me his PC has Windows 98 and said that shouldn't really matter though, meanwhile, after half an hour explaining how tech works, he bought himself a second hand XP machine...

We all know it's a pain in the neck having a Windows 8 system and not having a product key when say... the HDD goes all tits up, or a serious malware infection, or maybe you just hate the OEM bloat and want to wipe / re-install... here's the solution:

Step one, download the following program from this website:
    http://www.sherr.co.uk/retrieve_windows_8_license_key_from_bios/

Find a blocked product key from somewhere, use it to get through an installation of Windows 8 (download a clean ISO somewhere, no cracks, no activation, remember this is legitimate!)

Once installed, run that program, tick the MSDM checkbox, copy the key it produces, it's from your BIOS.

Use that key to replace the blocked key when Windows tries to activate

Once done, enjoy a legitimate license and a clean install of Windows.

Please don't report this, It's not piracy, I've seen friends refer to activators because of the product key issue. This is as legitimate as it can get without paying a manufacturer £££ for recovery media!!!

I'm talking quad core APU vs dual core APU, I know the I3's can kick the AMD cheap quad cores in the corners... but I'm thinking on an APU side of things

In the best mood ever right now and I'm about to go out for dinner, but I want to thank a few others as well as our forum community.

Missing Pets in BC has a great Facebook page that I wish more people were aware of. It's great that I have this huge (and awesome) group of people to help support me with something like this, but not everyone does, so I'd love for everyone who reads this to take a couple moments to find out if there's a similar local organiziation or facebook page or something and give them a like. What they do is so important to so many people.

They do more than just post the pets, but they can give advice and support about what information to provide and local animal shelters and the like.

I'm just so glad he's coming home... The last time I went out looking for him I didn't knock on doors... I was actually trying to see if I could smell decaying flesh in the woods near my house because I just wanted to know what happened to him...I tried not to but sometimes at night I couldn't help but lie there and think about how much it must have hurt to die from being eaten alive... And that that's what probably happened to my baby... I'm so glad he's safe. Even if whoever found him decided they didn't want to give him back, I would still be so happy to know he's okay... The fact that I'm getting him back is unbelievable.

I've tried that already... They didn't ask for a password to be put on the machine, they just turned it on and it appeared but we do get customers who have kids who randomly download shite to their computers and we all know shite comes with added shite

At least in the UK you can vote Cameron out pretty easily. I can't see the Conservatives winning in 2015 (in fact, I can't see anyone winning - hung parliament here we come). In the UK you have viable alternatives to vote for, even though  the Liberal Democrats used to be the main party getting the protest vote and now everybody hates them. UKIP for example are going to get an awful lot of support off the back of widespread discontent with the lib-lab-con. In the US, you literally only have the 2 parties. Voting for anyone else is a completely wasted vote because of the electoral college.
What US citizens need to understand is that their 'democracy' is fundamentally flawed - not least because it was essentially hashed together by a group of blokes from Bristol, who needed some way to unite a set of fractured and essentially independent former colonies and only had a limited time and understanding of political systems to draw upon. Electoral reform is what the US needs most.

Just look through the peep hole or window and then yell out to them that if you let them in they have to agree to disrobe or something weird like that, they won't come back.
