I'm adding specs as I'm getting them, I also included a video of the beeps. They have been becoming erratic, coming on, and doing some 2 beeps, then pause for a few seconds, then beep once.

Realist Peter Pan reacted to Misanthrope in A sudden surge in adblock detectors
What happened is that advertisers and the websites that hired their services got extremely carried away with the ads to the point that they became a liability for not only the user experience but even performance and security.

Now after adblock started getting popular they doubled down on the ridiculousness of the ads (amount and obnoxiousness) even more to make up for the lost ad revenue and thus pushing adblock to be even more aggressive continuing this arms race.

Now we are faced with the dilemma of many websites buckling down under pressure or flatout trying to guilt their viewers into removing adblock and in many popular cases, flatout refusing service if adblock is detected. This confrontational approach is just the conclusion of the early stubbornness of webmasters to addressing the concerns of their viewers and working with their customers (advertisers) to make things viable without being obtrusive.

Bottom line is: advertisement in the past allowed many websites to even exist. This is true. But my conclusion is simple: many of those websites, most even, don't have a right to exist and shouldn't exist. The market was never there to support them, it was artificially inflated by predatory practices and consumers just caught up to them with adblock. This is basically you losing your customer because your product wasn't good enough: you made up for your short comings with too many ads trusting people wouldn't be able to do much about it but now they have and they're going away.

So don't blame adblock because that's just an indirect way of blaming your customer and if that's your battle, you already lost.

Tell the difference between mining, folding at home, and other applications. Then tell my why I should be punished for using a card I bought and should have software that can arbitrarily decide that I've done something a company doesn't like. Maybe the next step is they burn your System ID into the card and if you try to sell it then it won't work.

That's basically what this election was to an extent. A lot of Trump voters were fairly rogue, especially celebrities.
Hillary is proof of that money cannot buy you a victory. She did get popular vote, but barely, and really, she didn't speak to the portion that mattered the most, which was the young voters.

Realist Peter Pan reacted to Radiofreq in What are your best analogies for describing complicated things?
Metaphors are my really and butter. Really. I believe 95% of my client base love me because I keep things clear for them and don't over explain unless they want me too.
    Here are some examples:

    1. Memory Size vs Hard Drive Size :  Think of a hard drive as your desk draw and memory as the actual desk top. The more harddrive space you have the more files you can store. The bigger your work area the more things you can work on at once. *keep going from there. A lot of similarities if you use your imagination. Full desk drawers etc.
    2. Bandwidth vs speed: Think of it as a highway. Typically, the "wider" it is, the more cars you can put on it (packets) and the faster you get the information you want. This is usually the case unless there is heavy traffic or slower speed limits are being enforced. *I know this is a watered down explanation and by no means complete, but we are trying to communicate basic ideas to an end user.
    3. WiFi interference and Radios blasting music:  Sometimes your WiFi issue can be other people in your area on the same frequency you are. Think of it like all your neighbors playing their music loud. It starts to get really hard to clearly hear your own music.
    4. Computer viruses like real viruses: Computer virus like to spread like a real human viruses. One person gets infected. Where the physical virus spreads to close contact the computer virus find the users contact list and friends online and sends a version of itself to them, like in the form of a hijacked email account. The person then gets infected with the virus and then spreads the virus to all their friends continuing the cycle.
    5. Computers and car prices: * Yes I do cars too. Why buy a $1200 computer when you see one on sale for $200. Expensive isn't only for gaming. You don't buy the cheapest car out there because you don't see yourself being a race car driver. There are many things that contribute to a cars price. Durability, longevity, warranty, functionality and yes even style. Same goes for a computer.

If you can think of a lot of "yeah but..." situations for what I've said above you would be right. This isn't about being fully informative. It's about placing a clear enough version of the truth in the hands of people that don't have our level of experience in IT.

    I hope this helps.

Realist Peter Pan reacted to Trik'Stari in Tek Syndicate is Burning
So, Tek Syndicate is on fire right now. I am reporting this first hand.

This started with Wendell blinking SOS in the last episode of The Tek in which he appeared (two weeks ago). Then tonight, Logan made some VERY poor decisions regarding transparency, and where the money from the Tek Syndicate channel is going.
    This spawned some shit.

Logan basically banned a bunch of moderators, after they started calling him out for deleting comments that did not violate community guidelines, but where difficult questions that he did not want to answer, about where the money from Tek Syndicate is going.

    Exhibit A:

Alamar, and Eden, WHERE moderators on the Tek Syndicate forums. Alamar has been banned or "suspended" from the forums, as well as Eden, and all other moderators except for two (whom I will not name) have subsequently been banned or suspended.

A former moderator points out that Logan is trying to switch the forum to Read Only mode, which would allow Logan to ban and delete people at will. Also, Logan egging his own community on.

    Logan egging people on again.

    Pistol enters the fray.

    Logan threatens everyone.

Pistol was banned from the private Discord chat maintained by members of the Tek Syndicate community after she flatout demanded admin rights on a server she has no affiliation with (the server is not officially affiliated with Tek Syndicate, merely maintained by a section of the Tek Syndicate community.), and then, when someone started sending her lewd comments, instead of reporting it to the admin, she decided to make it public, and tell that person to kill themselves.

Pistol claims that she can respond to trolls "however she damn well pleases" which is a great attitude for someone asking for admin powers to have.

There is more, a LOT more going on, but nothing that I have screenshots of. Currently trying to get Screenshots off of the Discord of Pistol behaving in said manner. This might not be possible as when an account is banned from Discord, all of their comments are deleted from the live instance of Discord (or so I have been told.)

The source? Me, and several other members of the Tek Syndicate community. There is even more on Reddit
    https://www.reddit.com/r/TekSyndicate/comments/502aao/for_everyone_going_what_the_fuck_is_happening_on/

TL;DR Logan refused to answer questions, Wendell, Qain, and Jennifer are leaving Tek Syndicate entirely (according to the Reddit post). There is a 4chan thread as well, but I dare not venture there. Several mods have been suspended, and the entire forum is down at the time of this posting.

    Imgur album I compiled: https://imgur.com/a/5NgkZ

Edit: Wendell and Qain have been removed as admins as well. Which is funny because Wendell hosts the Tek Syndicate Forum Server (to my knowledge. He has physical ownership of the server the forum is hosted from)

You were being reasonable up until this point: As I said before, if you're telling people you're out of money and heavily implying you might start asking/collecting from the community again then the question of "You've got no fucking content WTF is going on that you're out of money?" becomes actually everyone's business. I understand you disagree but they don't get a free pass to do whatever you want if you're taking money contributed for the company and using it for personal expenses. Not even when you initially do it because of a home office set up. Particularly not when even your business partner is asking you "This doesn't adds up, what's going on, whats with the frivolous charges to the company credit card" and so on.

And by the way, Wendell asked and because of the extreme overreaction decided to make such questions public, it certainly and absolutely is his fucking business seeing how he owns 30% of the comany. So at worst you could criticize Wendell for making such questions and posts in the public, however even that I would find hard to fault him for since people where accusing his company  of mishandling resources something he felt morally obligated to address. I cannot fault him for that tbh.

AFAIK the questions on the community by mods and admins were direct but not unreasonable. We're being unreasonable in this threads here sure, as a reaction of Logan and Pistol respective meltdowns:

-"Guys we contributed a bunch of money to patreon and merchandise already, a bit of an explanation on what's happening would be good before we contribute yet again
-"FUCK YOU ALL. YOU'RE BANNED. THIS POST IS GONE, YOU CAN'T ASK ME ANYTHING, FUCK QANE! FUCKING FORUM IS GONE!" *torches the entire community*

Sorry I am not sorry I'm being an unreasonable asshole in return to their favor.

    As I said also:

Just his reaction to this ordeal is enough for me to not care about "his side" of the argument. If you overreact to such an extend as he did you basically loose all credibility and redeeming qualities that would make me or any reasonable person want to support you in the future.

I know that guys like you are honestly just trying to be pragmatic and impartial about the entire situation and I can see the sentiment behind that being commendable even. But I think it's misguided for the aforementioned reasons stated in this post.

EDIT: Sorry I ended up editing far too much additional stuff on this post I understand if you're not able to catch all that.

i agree with your points on the logan doing cocaine rumor and people's attacks on pistol. but i do think donors have a right to know that their money is being used for the rights things. if people were buying stuff on their store or something yes they dont have to tell us what that money is being used for but donations are another thing. as an thought experiment if they opened up a charity saying they will give clothes to kids in africa. they better be giving clothes to kids in africa and not using it themselves and it is part of our business to know and keep them accountable.
