I've opened them, but you are not intended to do so. There are small screws underneath the interior fabric. Loosening them essentially puts holes in that mesh, but then the earpads and driver housing come out of the earcup. The earpads are stuck to a plate of plastic (via teeth I suspect), which clips into another plate of plastic housing the driver. I could not easily undo those clips to remove the earpad, and since the wires going to the driver are fragile, I quit before succeeding.

A new 290 can be found for around 270 dollars i think. It would probably be best to not risk it and get a new 290 and oc it

Silverado pads don't come off afaik (or more precisely I haven't figured out how to get them off), so it makes fixing them yourself hard. I'll see if i can figure it out when I get home to help you out, but no promises.

Then RMA it is the best option. You could try to fix it up yourself, but that'd definitely void the warranty, and potentially end up with more problems than how it is now.

shouldnt be a problem either way. i know MSI atleast includes an adapter to convert an 8 pin to an 8+6 pin with their 700 series cards.

If all you want is 1080p gaming you might as well pick up an r9 290. It's performance might be slightly worse but in 1080p it is more then enough.
Between the two cards that you have given they are nearly the same with the 970 coming out on top because of features and lower power consption. However if the 290x is cheaper just go for that one.

any USB 2.0 USB dongle will be fine. Its retrocompatible. For less than 15€youve got plenty to choose, although you wont get the signal you ill get from a more expensive one.
    Personally I use a Belkin 300.

CHC Silverado should be 50 bucks on Amazon.com and was designed for rock. It's pretty good, and there's a more detailed review in my signature.

It all depends on whether or not you're thinking of upgrading in the future. If you are go for the i3 as it has a better upgrade path. If not i assume that the 4 cores will probably help your build be more future proof

On raw power the 780 is better however the diference is marginal ( about 4-5 fps in some games) but feature wise the 970 is the way to go, plus it consumes less power.
For even lower power consumption and silence you should go for the asus strix version of the card.

Nvidia's ShadowPlay and AMD's GVR are better options than a recorder that uses the CPU.
From my experience with GVR there is minimal fps drops, and I'd say ShadowPlay is the same.
Here is a video on the matter, has explanation about GVR, ShadowPlay and FRAPS, very comprehensive.

GVR and ShadowPlay doesn't produce that great quality but is still very good.

If you have a Nvidia card 600 series or higher use Shadow-play, there is little to no performance hit. I think AMD has the same kind of thing not sure what it's called though.

It hasn't been released yet... only thing you can find are people selling review copies on eBay. Saw a Korean model (did not have our power connector type) going for $1500 on eBay. Its predecessor started at $1300 then dropped to $999. I'd guess 1300-1500 is a fair assumption.

Most of these posts are right (save up money and get something better). You are definitely not going to get anything good for $50 or less.

However, the green version of the Razer Kraken Pro's are on sale on Amazon right now for $57. I don't believe it has surround sound, but it is a very good budget headset.

I can also recommend the Corsair Vengeance 1500. It's a USB headset at about $59 on Amazon as of now. I have the 2100's, which is almost the same thing, just Wireless. It has 7.1 Surround in it (obviously not true surround, just software that simulates surround for headset users), and if the software is anything like the 2100's, it should be amazingly customizable. Mine comes with multiple EQ presets, and you can make your own.

Like I (and many other people) have said, save up some more money and get something decent. You don't have to spend too much, just buy something that will last you, otherwise you will be paying more in the end.
