Ugly cooler zotac 970. Faster, cheaper, and might still run cooler than the 280x.

You shouldn't be worrying about the cooler if you're on a budget like that...

It won't run cooler most likely. OC'd my toxic 280x hits 56C under full load. Sapphire's coolers are top notch.

And the 280X is only $250, whereas the 970 is $310. What do you mean cheaper?

Well the 970 runs pretty cool even with a shitty cooler. OP said 970 the ugly cooler is cheaper, he might be saying that it is the cheapest 970 so I am not really sure. Well in my country 280x toxic cost php16,800 ($381) while the basic zotac 970 is php15,000 ($341).

Weird stuff :/ I've seen some drastic price fluctuations but $130 is quite ridiculous. Overall the 970 is a faster card though, but the speed is represented by the price difference (at least on my end O.o )

If you are willing to sacrifice performance for the cooler then go ahead and get the 280x toxic. Other than that you can increase your budget to get a better version of the 970.

The 970 outperforms the 280x by quite a bit. Has more VRam. Is more efficient. In your case is cheaper. I see little point in choosing the 280x.
