CaptainKoda

The 780 is faster, but you will miss some features like DSR and 3g delta color compr. Tell me about your usage model and i'll be able to help you a bit more.

970.  The 970 has proven that it is on par with the 780ti in most instances(PCper, TechReport, Tomshardware, techpowerup) and when OC'd can be equal to a stock 980, so I say go with the 970.

Be patient. You will appreciate it when you open the package and see it says 970 instead of 780.

Both are great cards you cant go wrong with either choice and 780s can be found cheap since there fazing out. 970s on the other hand do save a bit on your electric bill if your going to be gaming a lot compare to the 780.

Both great cards, but you get a few more features on the newer 970. I have a 780 myself and i have no complaints. Either choice would serve you well.

Intel Core i5 3570K @ 4.5GHz | ASUS P8Z77-V LX2 | 2x4GB kingston hyper-x genesis @1600MHz | Gigabyte windforce GTX 780 3xOC rev.2 | 240GB kingston v300 & 500GB seagate 7200rpm |

Corsair GS600 |  1440p Dell U2515H & 1080p 60Hz tv/monitor | Asetek based AIO 120mm liquid cpu cooler

On raw power the 780 is better however the diference is marginal ( about 4-5 fps in some games) but feature wise the 970 is the way to go, plus it consumes less power.

For even lower power consumption and silence you should go for the asus strix version of the card.

I'm sorry but there's no real reason to buy a 780. It uses way more power, is noticeably slower (the 780 most definitely NOT faster than the 970. not by a long shot erik guntvedt.),  has less memory, and is almost always more expensive. the 970 is by  FAR the better choice, even if you don't take into consideration the future support for the Maxwell chips that the Kepler ones will just not have.

Unless you can find a 780 for NEW for less than $300 you should absolutely get the 970

No it isn't.  The 970 beats the 780 hands down in virtually everything.
