Ursad0n got a reaction from J.b091 in What do people hate about Apple?
I've had nothing but problems with apple and I've given them more chances than they deserved. When I had my macbook pro I couldn't upgrade to the newest OS because they stopped selling the one after mine and you had to buy every single upgrade to get to the newest one (which is fucking stupid), and my motherboard randomly died after about a year and their customer service was  painfully difficult to deal with. They insisted that it was my fault and that they only use "premium hardware" that would "never fail on it's own," and they wanted $600 to fix it. $600 to replace a fucking motherboard.

Not to mention the fact that about 1/2 the time I plug my phone into my computer it wipes everything off of it (music, pictures, contacts everything) and I've also had it wipe contacts on its own randomly.

Worst of all is the whole design philosophy. The "think different" pretentious attitude that if you buy their products you're better than everyone who doesn't, and the difficulty to customize software. The ridiculous limitations they have over your music on itunes as well is infuriating.

This is so funny someone was asking me the other day about SD cards and here's a video on them. I thought Brandon did a really good job, interesting to see the results

Cable management probably. I know it sounds odd, but it's one of the only times where there isn't a set way of handling it. It should be noted that I normally only buy modular power supplies; I'm not a cable management masochist.

That's awesome. I wish the shops here were like that.

Wireless HDMI would not have worked in this situation and I never said that it was a smart TV.

Wow, that's sad. I once had a computer repair shop argue with me as saying that Microsoft has never sold and doesn't sell a three pack of Windows. He also argued with me as to wither I needed a 4-pin molex extension in my computer.

It depends on the context. If it's hardware related then all of the answers above provide sufficient insight. If it's software then one is referring to things like Design Patterns and more general applicable concepts.

Glenwing explained it great; it's basically the way you design circuits (for example a CPU core or chip).

On Linus video, he opted for CPUs that follow the same design, meaning that besides the clockspeed, core count, cache or available I/O (like PCIe lanes), the CPUs are basically the same. And he is right, but these and other details make the performance difference.

It refers to the specific design elements of an integrated circuit (i.e. a CPU or GPU).

An i5-4690K has 4 cores of the "Haswell-architecture" design, which is distinct from AMD's FX-4300 with 4 cores of the "Piledriver-architecture" design.  Totally different designs, which is why they have totally different performance.  Both designs just happen to have 4 cores.  The cores themselves though are entirely different in design, and the architecture name is what we use to refer to each design.

I have never purchased a Mac for myself in my life. I did have to buy a Mac Book Pro 2 years ago for the wife though (we argued for days about it). However, this new 5k 27" kind of got me thinking. I'm not a true Apple hater, I just like getting more bang for my buck, and Apple is definitely not the place to do that. I do think it would be legit as ever to have this beast in my living room in the corner or something. I think it has a real clean look to it and it would look dope in our living room as a family PC.

The downside? Price, as always. I can't justify spending thousands of dollars for a living room PC that will probably only get used to stream Chromecast and browse a few webpages. If it was considerably cheaper I would consider it. (Like most Apple products.)

Going into my Sophomore year of high school I didn't know what I was going to do with my life at all, and one day I was watching youtube videos  when I came across a LinusTech video   (I can't remember which one). It looked interesting and I started watching more. Soon I wanted to build my own computer because he made it look so easy and fun. So that Christmas I got all the parts together and built my first computer (It was awesome!). That sparked a love for technology that kept me wanting to learn more, and it caused me to stumble upon programming which became a bit of an obsession for a while; and still is a passion of mine. This new passion gave me new motivation to learn and want more out of life. I actually wanted to do something with my life now.

So here I am today. I have been talking to a couple recruiters and I'm hoping to join the NROTC program and go to Ohio State to major in computer(software) engineering (or possibly computer science but there still kind of similar majors) and join the Marine Corps to become an officer (the recruiters tell me my chances are good so I'm hopeful. Even if that doesn't work out, I still have backup plans but no matter what at least I know what I want to do with my life. If it wasn't for LinusTech I still probably wouldn't know what to do after high school.

**NROTC is a program which gives you a large scholarship to select colleges and in return you sign up to do Officer Candidate School in the Marines after college to put it very simply
    here's a link to it if anyone's interested https://www.marines.com/becoming-a-marine/commissioning-programs/four-year-colleges/nrotc

actually i have many reasons to dislike apple.
    for instance:
    1) osx is simply unix locked down.(lack of freedom with the devices and how it promotes igonrants)
    2) when was the last time apple actually invented something? ( 99% of the stuff apple does is made/invented by other company, but doesn't stop them from passing it off as their own.)(being innovative is not the same as being inventive)

these are just 2 reason. i don't want to go on a page long rant. just showing Ursad0n that just becuase people don't share their reansoning doesn't mean their opinions are not valid.

and you simply want to know what really bad, based simply on the new iphone 6. apple didn't even try to be innovative. all they did was put parmesan cheese on a cheese pizza and trying to pass it off for something more than it is. which is just a cheese pizza. LULZ
