Goddamn CSR. Uninstall the device, pull it out, reboot. Plug it into a different USB, then wait for Windows to do it's thing. Had this happen with a StarTech.com Bluetooth adapter, and apparently it's an issue with that chipset specifically.

My point remains. If you think she's never heard them, then expose her to headphones you have and see if that's how she wants to go that route. If she wants to buy Beats because of the name, then that's on her. Not everyone cares about fidelity or value. Some people are shallow and care only about the brand names for vanity sake.

If she wants Beats, and likes the sound of them, let her be. Not everyone like a flat frequency response curve, some people really like the sound of Beats. Let them make that decision because music and sound are subjective and preferential to the individual.

Check the fan grills are clear. You should not be idling that high.... That's almost certainly the issue, is thermal throttling.

Are you plugged into power? Do you have the system set to run off the Nvidia GPU for all games? What are your temps?

Make sure your drivers are up-to-date to allow the DP-Alt mode to work correctly with the new display. There's a chance it's an interop over USB-C with the new panel due to the E-markers on the monitor, laptop, and cable it came with. However, you need to also be certain the cable they included is a USB-C video capable cable, and no just USB-C data. Their manual seems to hint it's supported though. Lastly, make sure you actually select USB-C as the input.

As someone who does t-shooting for stuff like this all day.... go to the laptop Manufacturer's site. They'll have made sure to vet the driver doesn't have issues on the configured system. Even though two computers may use the same chipset, it doesn't mean the driver will work on both due to other hardware present which may require a modification by the OEM.

I'd double-check the graphics driver as well since that's what will control the audio out for HDMI. There's a chance a driver update borked the EDID handshake, so that the system isn't correctly negotiating true 5.1/7.1 resulting in this issue. If there's no GPU, make sure to update whatever VGA driver is present, as well as the chipset driver. This is, of course, if you wish to still use Windows vs going to Linux on it.

SlayerOfHellWyrm got a reaction from Zipfirealpha in CPU throttling in games
Have you looked in task manager to see what's eating the CPU when you're trying to game? I have the same 8700K, but mines stable at 5.0 GHz on a 115i Platinum. I've never seen it hit 100% in a game, however to be fair, I don't own Doom, or BL3. I do own GTA V, but I've yet to actually play it on Iris... eventually.

If you want, I can launch into it to see where my 8700K sits at, with all my other bg crap open (Chrome, Discord, Spotify and tons of other background stuff like Asus GPU Tweak II)?

What device is it trying to boot off? Usually a blinking underscore indicates whatever boot device it's using is not set up with an OS.

You may need to go into the BIOS to confirm the boot device, and make sure it's choosing the correct device. You also need to confirm that the OS is correctly installed. To that end, what OS is on the drive? How was it set up? What changed before you had this issue?

We'll put it this way, I work as a Sr. Technical Advisor for an IT manufacturer of connectivity solutions, and in my roughly 26 months with time I've created 5,821 cases, and closed maybe a few hundred more started by others.

I've had people ask why their anti-static mat isn't helping them sleep better because it's supposed to ground them from the negative ions in the air, had people shove USB-C connectors into a Thunderbolt 2 port on a 2015 MacBook Pro, and shove M.2 cards into a regular USB to SATA adapter. Those are some of the interesting support requests.

Pre-sales wise, I've had to explain how RAID is not a backup, why NVMe can't be converted to SATA, why a hard drive dock won't magically fix a dead drive, and the list goes on.

I've dealt with so much now, and on scales from a small as one item for one person, to a multi-million dollar deal for a tech company, as well as defence contractors, etc.

I've had everything from folks who admit they know nothing and just want a solution, to people who've been a network admin for 15 years and can't remember how to set a static IP.

I love my job, but some days it's draining.

I know the line is new, but, y'all ever getting a block for the 2070 (specifically, the Asus 2070 Dual). I'd love to put a whole Corsair loop into my build Iris, given time. Right now, it's straight up the only part I cannot get from Corsair for the loop. (Side note, y'all should make motherboards, just... do better than the NZXT one, so I can do a complete Corsair build, lmfao).

Ok, so as that's a screen recording, which technically gets the signal before it hits the monitor, which rules out the cable and monitor and monitor. That being said, it's likely something with the GPU.

What resolution and settings are you using? Does it happen at a lower framerate at all? Does it happen if you drop the settings of a game? Does it happen in all games, or just a few? Does it happen on the desktop, or only in games?

It'll be a combination, as I run the game completely maxed at 1440p, which includes 16x and I don't have the issue.

Sounds to me like it's the 16x filtering causing the issues. Just, don't run it that high I guess? I know it's not a great answer, but honestly, it doesn't make that much of a difference. I tested on my system, and I don't notice anything between 16x and the lower values.

Super easy to read the pinout, as they are laid out where the pins are in relation to the connector. Fun fact, if you bridge the power button pins with like a flat blade screwdriver, it'll kick on the computer confirming this. As a heads up, the only section where +ve and -ve matter, are LEDs. Buttons are momentary switches, and just need to be connected briefly (such as with a screw driver). As such, it can go on either way for the button.

SR-IOV is used for virtualization.... so no, that's not correct. What proof do you have that they updated to P3.20? My guess since you get no form of post, is that they didn't update to P3.20 or newer to enable the support. I'd go back to them, and have them show me it's updated before worrying about anything else. Boards not updated will do exactly what you're outlining here. It could also be a dead CPU, or board, or RAM or something as well, but rule out the BIOS first by having them show you. Any self-respecting shop can do that for you.

SlayerOfHellWyrm got a reaction from notenoughtv in Update B450 ROG Asus board with no cpu?
Unfortunately, without the older CPU to update the board, it's not possible. This board does not feature a BIOS flashback feature which lets you update the BIOS without a CPU or RAM. As such, you need an older CPU from someone, to go back to the store to have them do it or to use the service offered by AMD. There's no workaround here, sorry.
