i would've gone with the flow if they'd done things right , but for similar or worse actions they turn a blind eye & don't make a fuss about  it as much as they would've for the opposing side, they expect the audience to be gullible. not once or twice, simply too many times & still going.

  4. I managed to actually render this video with libx264 without my PC crashing. I got a copywrite claim for the song but I expected that to happen.

Russia is actually a lot bigger 17,000,000km^2 vs 9,600,000km^2

Only problem the highlands don't have good roads. They are all single lane tracks which makes traveling much slower compared to highways at night..

it's crazy to think that intel can be competitive in the gpu market. but it just might happen.

and if they do, i'll be happy. Intel stuff generally works well on Linux. both nvidia's and amd's linux drivers are kind of a mess sometimes. i've never had an issue with an intel gpu on linux so...

    3. dizmo

      dizmo

@Jurrunio Aye, but Intel's come leaps and bounds in a single generation of their integrated graphics. Shows something's working behind the curtain.

@firelighter487 Not too surprising, they're a massive company. It only makes sense to expand into the GPU space, especially with AI and deep learning becoming more and more of a thing. If they stick to traditional CPUs they'll fall into obsolescence.

    4. Jurrunio

      Jurrunio

I'm interested in memory used for the testing though, as faster iGPUs always do significantly better with faster memory. I mean, I'm not surprised if data from leaks are using Hwbot worthy memory setting after that chiller event

  10. A random thought: When reviewers tested RTX GPUs, they tested their power consumption in GPU-intensive games, or synthetic benchmarks such as FurMark.

However, they never tested the power draw when RT and Tensor cores were loaded, so in games that use those RTX features you're going to obviously get more power drawn because more hardware is active that way... I wonder what the numbers look like in that case.

    1. Ryan_Vickers

      Ryan_Vickers

Unless the card as a whole is power capped and by activating those extra cores you'll actually lose performance in the traditional core.

    2. Jurrunio

      Jurrunio

Also a new form of bottleneck, as BFV demonstrated you can get Tensor bottlenecked with high resolutions and ultra DXR at the same time.

  11. It's nice that taxes went up for me this year. I actually owed money.

      Syntaxvgm

yah, they doubled the minimum deduction, but they did away with personal exemptions, so they could claim it's a tax cut but not really. I set up my withholding to be tax neutral so I make more but don't get a return, the only time it screws me is if they decide to change what they're going to tax you for mid year like they did in 2018.

They basically raised taxes retroactively, in a way.

    3. dizmo

      dizmo

      Hurray?

Don't you sell stuff online? Really, your tax bill should always be $0. Unless you're having an extremely successful year sales wise.

    4. Syntaxvgm

      Syntaxvgm

No, I work, selling stuff online is side money, and I really didn't as much in 2018

@Skanky Sylveon No. It uses a dongle.

    4. Tech_Dreamer

      Tech_Dreamer

i would love to have this but at the same time one less port for an adapter method seems a bit fitting in terms of overall design, this just an opinion , but if you're already planning to hook up a thick Ethernet cable to it , but to compromise the whole design aspect of the lapt for it for the real-estate it takes. adapter is a good way.

  13. Greg Gutfeld, of Fox News, asked on air if Social Security is "socialist".

My heart winced so hard, I was without pulse for a minute.

How do you have a job as a newscaster (or whatever) when you have to ask such inane questions?

      DrMacintosh

God I hate Greg Gutfeld, his "show" is so bad.... my Grandpa is a devout christian and a pastor and even he can't stand Greg unless I'm there (because he likes to tease me about being a democrat xD

    2. ARikozuM

      ARikozuM

When I heard him ask if "that's socialism", I thought "okay, he's being condescending". Then the camera shows his face and I knew... dmub eH.

No journalist is perfect, especially when at least half of your job is to speculate, as is the case with Greg Gutfield.  Regardless of what he says or whether I agree with it or not, I usually find Greg to be hilarious.  😂

Social Security is welfare, which is a large aspect of socialism.  Does that make it a socialist policy?  Honestly, I feel like that's a political grey-area.  I'm not sure myself, because both "yes" and "no" are valid responses with good supporting arguments & evidence.  What about an economic perspective on the issue?  I'd say it's economically socialist, but I'd also ask @CUDAcores89 because he's more knowledgeable.

  14. Alright, with my experience with a flagship phone I would like to make a few observations.

I have only plugged a cable into the USB C port twice throughout me owning it.  I pretty much exclusively use wireless charging.  I transfer through FTP, so I don't even plug it in to transfer files.

So I more or less have an unused port, so my opinion of removing the headphone jack has changed.  I don't mind it as much, I would still like 2 USB C ports as a replacement for the times that I'm on the road and need to use a battery bank, or for USB OTG purposes while still listening to music, but a quarter inch headphone dongle isn't the end of the world with wireless charging and the extra features that modern flagship phones have.

      dizmo

I've been thinking about picking up a wireless charging pad for a while now. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

I'm in the same boat as you. I rarely use any ports aside from the charging one currently, and that's just because I haven't switched over.

    3. Ryan_Vickers

      Ryan_Vickers

Obviously the next step is no ports at all.  People joked (in a "actually this isn't a joke we know it's coming but it's a joke because it's so stupid" sort of way) that was coming when the headphone jack was removed and it looks like we're close since some devices were even announced already.

    4. Techstorm970

      Techstorm970

@DrMacintosh None, because batteries deteriorate over time and any OS or application becomes more hardware-intensive as more features are added, even in Apple's case.

Yes, iPhones' practical longevity is the best on the market HANDS DOWN, but no iPhone from 2015 is "good as new."  Hell, my iPhone SE from late 2016 is not what it used to be.

  15. I should not pay sales tax when the company I'm buying from pays $0 in federal taxes. Lock em' up!

    1. dizmo

      dizmo

Rather ironic coming from such a strong supporter of Apple.

    2. DrMacintosh

      DrMacintosh

Apple dodges taxes, but they still pay something, Amazon goes above and beyond and actually gets tax refunds.

    3. dizmo

      dizmo

You know what that's a problem with? The tax system. Not the company exploiting problems with it.

  18. I thinknive learned some interesting things about myself:

If I am doing something productive, I am happy and not bored.

If i am not doing anything productive, I am sad and depressed.

I would argue this is the single biggest reason people are depressed. They feel like they dont have a purpose or anything to work for.

      lmao.

well, if a laptop is dead that usually means a motherboard issue. and mobo's for a very specific laptop that was made 13 years ago are kinda rare. so unless you can find one that just needs a new hdd or something you're out of luck i guess.

unless you know how to fix a mobo.

It's random, he'll try and fix it, and it he fails, it's a coaster.

Also, yeah. I wouldn't rebuy my 1st computer - it was a pos HP D330uT, and it's not worth the money. I threw it out in mid 2018. Not sure if I'll regret that decision. Haven't yet tbh.
