New gaming build (In a long time)

robertIron883

Hello folks, I'm currently looking to build myself a new gaming pc, the one I currently have is too outdated at the moment to run games so I decided to build a new computer.

First off, I will need everything from monitor to OS, since I plan to keep the old machine for papework. I would like two monitors (No need of 120hz or 144hz) Size has to be 21 inches and above. It's been such a long time since I been building a pc  that i'm just way out of the loops of which parts is better and what not, so I need your help.

In term of budget I have a maximum of 1700 CAD with tax and shipping, I have no preferences for AMD or INTEL same for the GPU.

Just looking for your answers :)

Cheers, Robert.

EDIT: I won't need any mouse, since I have a good one :)

Main uses? mainly gaming? editing/rendering/3d modeling?

Are you going to be Overclocking?

Gaming main use, no editing, it's been a long time since I OC'ed stuff, used to be very hard back in the days, but I heard it's easy these days, so why not? :)

Gigabyte 390 has some issues mate - lot's of people saying black screens - I'd suggest MSI or Sapphire :/

EDIT: Also - skip NEX PSUs - not the best quality and some shotty components in them. except for the 1000W model.

Currently using the S2340L Dell monitor - awesome quality. No real need for OCing an i5 today unless you absolutely want to do it. The 4460 can run any game without getting maxed out at 1080p.

Cooler is just cause of left over cash and to be quieter.
850 Evo is among the best SSDs around - no regrets there

Stylish fractal case and an entirely custom PCB from the best AMD OEM around - Sapphire :)

650W is more than enough and will allow for future upgrades.

Yes 650w is enough.

60 hertz is a waste if you get a 390

Not when you get 2 of em :)

Sure it's enough - 390 uses 40W more than a 970 and people recommend 500W for the 970 :D

EDIT: Btw - do stay away from the Gigabyte 390 - I normally ignore Newegg and Amazon customer reviews but when literally half of them are DoA or similarly broken cards - I tend to avoid that GPU/component.

Actually - it is legit - most are old copies people don't use anymore.

As for the brand - take a look at the Sapphire Nitro - it's probably the best 390 atm.

Huh, haven't heard this. I just chose the gigabyte model 'cause it's the cheapest plus I've had my 270X for 2 years and it's only driver problems that I get for some reason, nothing specific to the GPU.

Gigabyte 270, 280, 290 were great - they simply dropped the ball hard with the 300 series, A LOT of people having issues.
