Best mobo for AMD FX 8320?

Hey guys, I wanted to know what do you think is the best motherboard for an FX 8320 (Amazon US availability, please). And also, is there another CPU you would recommend for that price range? (140$). I want it for gaming but also for streaming and photo/video editing, and I've read that DX12 games are going to be more multi-core friendly, so I assumed that that was my best choice. My maximum budget for a mobo is about $100, but I'd be willing to save some more if you give a pretty good reason for it. I also plan on overclocking the CPU, just so you know.

Anyway, I hope you can help me and thanks in advance!

Best motherboard is around ASRock 990FX Killer but it's not that cheap. Can you afford it? Cause you asked about the best one, it's at least one of the best ones. 132$ on newegg.com after rebate. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-990fxkiller

If you want something cheaper but still good, here's the choice: ASRock 970 Performance, it's 93$ on newegg after rebate.

You can get an i3 for that money, I would recommend sticking to the FX, especially if you benefit from multiple threads of this cpu.

Only look at the FX 8320 if you will use all 8 threads (4 modules 8 ALU).

Note that that i3 is around 30% slower than an i5 4440 in multi-threaded tasks.

Edit: BTW, unless your budget is larger, its pretty much gaming with all of the other tasks taking a performance hit, or the other tasks being done faster, with gaming taking a large performance hit (streaming depends on the program you use).

MSI 970 Gaming - best bang for buck

The ASRock 970 Performance is better. Compare them if you want, cost about the same and the MSI is slightly worse. Also the ASRock supports the FX-9XXX CPU family.

Ok...that motherboard has only 1 more VRM phase than this motherboard that officially 'supports' the FX 9590:

Do not go with a cheap motherboard with any of the FX 8***/9*** line.

You're right, let's focus on gaming, then. I guess I'll go with your recommendations, because they seem to be the most future-proof ones, right? I mean, does the mobo handle basic GPU oc well? What's the best GPU (around $150-200) for that CPU and how fluid will new games run (maximum 900p resolution because of my monitor)? Also, do you think that mobo works with an old Pentium D processor? My old mobo burned and if I can use my pentium CPU while I save for the new i3, then that'd be great! (it's not mandatory, though).

Anyway, thanks for your answers, guys! really appreciate it!

Edit: Forget about the limit on the GPU, I'd rather wait and buy a really good one.

Golly! A $130 processor for the performance of a $70 Intel processor! Nice deal!

Any motherboard will handle GPU overclocking just fine-even my dirt cheap P5K-VM (which puts nearly all modern motherboards to shame it was that bad). As for the best graphics card, you could easily go with anything up to an R9 280X/380X with no problems at all. Looking at your budget the GTX 950 (http://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-Geforce-GTX-950OC-video-card-overclocked-Graphics/dp/B0148LMY50/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1440757344&sr=1-4&keywords=gtx+950&refinements=p_36%3A15000-20000) seems to be the best choice, and no the motherboard won't work with a Pentium D as it is LGA775.

A GTX 950 should be able to max out nearly any game at 900p as well.

Meh I've got a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 which is a cheapass mobo but has got the 8+2 VRM phase CPU power supply and allowed me to OC it to 4,5 gHz stable on basically stock voltage, no issues whatsoever. I guess you just need to make a good choice and you will be fine.

I'd recommend getting the i5-4460 or the 8320 provided you do use multithreading in your usage. An i3 whether it might be enoguh right now it won't be enough in the future, and unless you spend a lot on a motherboard, you won't be able to upgrade to 4690k/4790k anyway without changing your motherboard cause it's worthless to use them on an H81/B85 chipset mobo. You need a Z97 and buying it with a locked i3 seems unreasonable.

Think of his previous computer this way, it had a Pentium D in it. I think he'll see massive improvements with anything he does. And the i3 I recommended runs at 3.8GHz, so its not far behind something such as the i5 4440.

Well it's still a dual core, as I might have mentioned in the past I just dislike the i3 series and not even consider it for gaming systems. I'd prefer the FX-8 series over the i3's all the way. But I benefit from the 8 core structure. So unless he gets an i5-4460 and doesn't benefit from more than 4 threads, the fx-8320 is a decent choice

You have no clue when it comes to choosing a CPU for a set task. An i3 is a dual core CPU with hyperthreading. Just like an FX 8350 is a 4 module CPU with 8 ALU. Why do you always insist on treating the i3 as a Pentium G3258?

Hyperthreading doesn't make it magically a 4 core though. It does help but it's still not a 4 cored CPU. FX-8320 is a CPU that has 8 cores put in 4 modules that share memory controller as well as cache memory with 2 cores per module.

FX-8320 will shine especially when playing AAA titles compared to the i3, these games use all 8 threads, The Witcher 3, Battlefield 4, GTA V, Dragon Age Inquisiton etc etc.

It will lose to the i3 in MMORPGs (especially older ones) and some usually older games. Depending on what he's going play he should choose what he finds most useful.

Unless he can afford the i5-4460 and a decent motherboard.
