Hardwood Floors vs Carpet

Guest Philosophy

Intro:

I have had carpeting in every house I have lived in. I have had both inexpensive and very nice carpeting. And now for the last year I have had wood flooring in the main areas of my home. This is my review and semi overview of hard-wood floors.

Hardwoods vs. Carpets:

My family opted to go with true hardwoods (As opposed to, a real wood with a cap, or a laminate) we choose Acacia wood flooring

I really like it. It has many different color and it blends well with the house. Better then carpet ever would. And cleaning is easier, I sweep every couple of days and do a nice mopping once a month and it is good to go.  Carpet does have its advantages. It is easier of the feet, less slick, and more durable. Even with very solid hardy wood flooring in a busy family with animals scratches to occur in heavy traffic areas. Some are easy to fix while others require putting down a new board.

In the long run I am glad with my decision. It makes my house look much classier, elegant and it’s easier to clean and keep clean. Meaning my house is and looks cleaning.

I wanted to put this out there for anyone deciding between hardwoods or carpeting. Hardwoods are really the way to go.

I think shaving it is cleanest

Oh I should read more than the title

I still think hardwood floors are cleaner

muh specs

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Nothing like being a dumbass and nearly cracking your skull open.

To keep the discussion going: I prefer carpet in bed rooms and wood everywhere else. Wood is just so much easier to clean in general . Carpet can be a little annoying however in rooms where you're trying to move things, i.e.  computer chairs, to think about it that's the only real con of having it in bedrooms, because you're not likely to be eating in your room or drinking, also I don't have a hard time keeping food or drink on it's destination to my mouth if times become tough and I have to drink or eat in my room...

Here in my country almost everyone uses hard tiles, someone wood, almost nobody carpet. We use slippers anyway, so most of the advantages of carpets go out the window.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

That is what I did, i did carpet with a thin memory foam base in the bedrooms and wood everywhere else.

Same here.

Hardwood floors are superior if you have pets ! If you don't have pets , it's still superior !

Hardwood is 1000% cleaner and better looking. Carpet also gives me the worst allergies ever.

I want my first home to have hardwood floors.

The only thing that makes me want to live in the USA is being able to get like 3 rooms floored for the price of one. Hardwood floors are like $800 per room plus installation here.
