tan years ago where world of warcreft was a huge thing i remember people paying 1000's for pc's to game on that are now very old and very underpowered 

 

what pc's do you remember seeing or hearing or buying was very expansive and just worthless now for gaming?

Bit earlier. But I remember my family paying about 4 grand for an ollivetti 486DX-33. think it was about 93.

And any 486 slower than 40MHz got flogged by the dirt cheap 386 DX 40 xD.

i know what you mean i got the crappy alienware x51 : (

 

it has a GTX 555, i7-2600, 8GB of RAM, 1TB and NO SSD!

 

this crap cost me like $1300 and i swear to god that i could of gotten a GTX 980ti, i7-4790k, 16GB of RAM, with samsung PRO 256GB  all at the same price as the alineware x51 -_-

 

i paid for a overprice piece of junk! compare to the spec that i just mentioned

I "upgraded" my old 8800 gt to a GT430. It lowered my performance by like half so I had to put my 8800 gt back in. New doesnt always mean better..

Agreed. I only gave it up because it died. It still ran the games I was playing in 2011 in medium to high graphics with my Core 2 Duo E6600.

but then again, mostly pre-built, IBM,HP and it came with software (MS, Windows, Visio, etc)

those computers are older than me. I cringe at the fact those 166MHz pentium CPUs were like the 5960x of the 90s

Intel 166Mhz was the bomb

it's probably like i5 now days in term for gaming/multitasking

my processor was just old AMD 486 66Mhz OC'ed to 133Mhz, still struggled with almost every games.

I remember those Apple colour printers, we had them in primary school. I also remember them never wanting to work properly like any good printer lol.

those computers are older than me. I cringe at the fact those 166MHz pentium CPUs were like the 5960x of the 90s

Wouldn't the PowerPC CPUs be more like today's high end Intel?

 

Addendum/Redaction: I'm fairly sure that when my Bondi Blue iMac G3 originally was released (1998) that its specs were considered rather good for its time. 

(233MHz CPU, 32MB of RAM, and 4GB HDD with a 15" CRT) [Though I'm not sure if my iMac G3 is a Rev. A or B. unit.] (I'm guessing mine is a Rev. B since the Serial No. and Ethernet ID tag says 9/18/1998 7:06PM, so my iMac G3 is 1 year 3 months and 27 days older than me).

I'd love if I could have more function with OS X 10.3.5 but considering it is an 11 year old OS I guess I can't expect too much even though a 14 year old OS [Windows XP] still has support from many modern things.

I don't see companies getting off their asses and upgrading from Windows XP any time soon. It isn't easy but it should have been done over a year ago.

When I started Freshman year at my HS last year the desktops for the students ran XP fortunately they've upgraded the desktops and they have W7 on them. Though yeah I think it's sort of sad how XP is still popular.

I don't see why companies just don't upgrade to Windows 7 or even 8. Its more secure, up to date, will last a lot longer, and still gets updates.
