Corsair H100i or H80i? Difference?

Go to solution Solved by Vexzarium,

Just looked at your build in your profile OP... the H100i does a fine job on the 4690k. ;)

Hey guys! I'm pretty sold on the idea of corsair closed loop CPU coolers. I have a question though. Does fan size matter? 120mm vs 240mm? I can't decide between the H80i and the H100i. The only difference to me seems to be that one has twice the fans. Is that the only difference? Does fan size actually matter? If so, how much of a difference does it make? Thanks, please reply. :) -Jordan

yes, the bigger the rad, the more surface area and therefore more heat dissipation

the fan size is the same

they both use 120mm fans

the difference is that the H80i has a 120mm radiator while the H100i uses a 2x120 aka 240mm radiator

the H100i performs better because its bigger

You misunderstood. They both come with two 120mm fans.

Its just the size of the rad is different. The bigger the rad, the more surface area there is to cool the liquid.

A 120mm rad simply means you can put 1 120mm fan on each side of it while a 240mm rad means you can put two 120mm fan on each side.
