Most people can barely run 4K at decent fps now without breaking the bank.. I'd want to get there first.

never because 4k is not going to be a standard for 21:9. 3440x1440p exists right now, double that and maybe we will see that 3-4 years

4k is 3840x2160, that is impossible for 21:9

Are you asking about a 5040x2160 (21:9) monitor?

I don't think it will be too long before they appear, probably within a year

This is LTT. One cannot force "style over substance" values & agenda on people that actually aren't afraid to pop the lid off their electronic devices, which happens to be the most common denominator of this community. Rather than take shots at this community in every post, why not seek out like-minded individuals elsewhere?

Since 5k monitors are out as the heroic tier above 4k, just like 1440p was above 1080p.

Id say the 5120x2160 monitors are coming, just need to give it a year or two. I heard LG is working on OLED TVs with that resolution already.

But id say 1440p height is amazing enough right now, try to enjoy that, dont think too far ahead or you wont enjoy anything.

Much rather see OLED 21:9 monitors, even with 1080p height, but thats also at least 2 years away.

It would hardly make any sense... they would probably be as expensive as 2880p monitors just like 21:9 1440p screens are as expensive as 2160p 16:9, you'd effectively be getting less screen real estate for the money. And it wouldn't have be relatively easy to drive like 21:9 1440p is compared to UHD. Plus you'd get the usual horrific scaling in movies in any standard resolution (admittedly you'd get it with most movies at 2880p too, but at least that's compatible with 720p...).

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

as soon as we can run games at 2160P 16:9 maxed out @ 144+ FPS

We can do that now. With a single video card even...  Source games, Dota2, LOL and shit, look amazing
