FPS drops

HerstalP90

Hey guys,

I recently ( friday ) bought a new pc and i can run all games effortlessly on the highest settings, but while playing games it lately has random frame drops,

not allot but it is noticable when it goes from 60-120 to suddenly 20 for a split second. It becomes pretty damn annoying after a while.

The graphics cards i have are two MSI GTX970's and they should not have any problem with playing games on the highest settings... especially not games like league and it still drops while playing that.

I was wondering if you guys know anything about it because what i read about it is that its the graphics card overheating or something like that but seeing as both my graphics cards run at around 50-60 degrees ( celsius ) i don't think that is the problem.

If any of you could help me i would greatly appreciate it.

PS: sorry for any and all grammatical errors, i'm from The Netherlands

Reinstalling drivers can help a lot.

Also if it looks like a frame drop and an fps counter does not show it then it could be microstutter

I agree with this guy.

Drivers can not make a computer, but they can break one.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Seems like a CPU problem. What are your CPU temps? Download something like Core Temp to monitor your core clocks of all your cores while playing. If it is throttling down, then your cooler might not be on correctly, or the thermal paste probably has air pockets.

I use a Lenovo T440: i5 4300U, 8GB RAM, 128GB Samsung 840 Evo, 14" 900p display and an external 23" 1080p passive 3D monitor. Extended 6-cell battery with internal 3-cell. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (I only use open-source software -- haven't paid for a single program yet).
