I will be the first to tell you guys, I do not use anywhere near the 32gb in my NAS using ZFS raid. Now I do not do any heavy reads/writes so that may be just my situation. I have 32gb because I am a hardware nut and wanted it ;)

Ah, yes, I'm familiar with that. It's the main reason I have a Titan.

Not yet 10TB+, but a work in progress and hopefully will hit 10TB+ by the end of the year.

Hardware

CASE: Fractal Design Define Mini

PSU: Seasonic G-360

MB: MSI H77MA-G43

CPU: Intel Pentium G2020

HS: Stock Intel Heatsink

RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600

SSD: Corsair Force GT 60GB SSD

HDD 1: 2x 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST2000DM001

HDD 2: 1x 2TB Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003

HDD 3: 1x 3TB WD Red WD30EFRX

Software and Configuration:

My server is running Windows 8 with FlexRAID Transparent Raid(tRaid) for pooling/array.

The array currently has the three 2TB drives as data drives, with the 3TB drive as a parity drive (thus 6TB of usable space).

Usage:

Home Server is used for mainly music and videos. Server runs Emit Free/Air Playit Server for access on Android/iOS, and runs Plex for videos. Most computers access the server via SMB with no software.

It’s also for backing up my computers.

Backup:

Currently no backup of entire server. However, most data is replicated in at least one other location to prevent hardware failure from causing data loss.

Additional info:

Server is still fairly unstable even after a few months of experimentation. First tried unRAID for a while, but write performance wasn’t sufficient. Moved to Real Time Raid for FlexRAID, but kept having errors, to the point I was recalculating my entire parity at least once every 2 or 3 days. Just moved to tRAID to see if it improves stability, but still a work in progress as tRAID is still in the RC stage.

Will probably add a 3TB drive in the coming months if I can find the budget for it. Will also need to add a PCI-Express Card to get more SATA ports to do so.

Repost since I have some updates to the hard drive config which pushes it past 10TB of Drives. Basically I had a hard drive failure in my desktop, quickly followed by what seems to be a gradually failing hard drive in the server, causing it to continuously drop out of array(note: it still appears to be working, just cannot get it to work in array). So I am reconfiguring my storage, bought a 1TB WD Black for my desktop, and when my desktop drive returned from RMA I put it in the server.

HDD 3: 1x 3TB WD Red WD30EFRX

HDD 4: 1x 3TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001

Software and Configuration:

My server is running Windows 8 with FlexRAID Transparent Raid(tRaid) for pooling/array.

The array currently has the Seagate drives as data drives, and the 3TB WD Red as a parity drive (7TB Usable, 10TB Total)

Usage:

Just moved to tRAID to see if it improves stability, but still a work in progress as tRAID is still in the RC stage.

Server is not actually functional at the moment. Getting disk errors whenever I try to calculate parity, and believe that the RMA drive still has issues. Running full tests on every drive to be safe, and will RMA the 3TB drive again if I need to. Expected to be at least a few days, potentially weeks before it's fully up and running. Will try and repost again when I have finalized the setup.

Will probably add more drives in the coming months if I can find the budget for it. Will also need to add a PCI-Express Card to get more SATA ports to do so.

Looking forward to joining this exclusive group in due time.

If you have a storage system that isn't 10TB you can still post it :)

It just wont get on the list but its nice to see more systems.

Wouldn't be much of a point since I'm giving it away to my brother in a couple of days and the system I'm replacing it with, while certainly impressive, will be nowhere near finished and will only have storage to compete with the lowest ranked of the noteworthy builds that didn't make the list.

But, like I said, my plan is to eventually join the list as my new build is completed.

I think @Alexdaman forgot to change out @looney's M/B when he used his post

as a template.

Alternatively: Magic! :D

Maybe just some crazy science. That is what I am using to try and get Snapraid to work for my HUGE 4TB server :D.

All the things you said that would make this way too long...

I must express my love for your watercooled Xeons and beastly drive setup. Also, is that a graphics card hooked up to your loop?

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei

Now that is one might nice server you got there sir, holy crap! jawdrop.gif

And it's so tidy!

If I may ask: Where did you get the extra HDD cage?

Thanks!

The HDD cage is from my main computer: the Fractal Design Define XL.

It is mounted to the R4 with 4 bolts through the bottom of the case.

Hehe, nice! I tried to get an additional cage for my server, but eventually

scrapped the idea.
