Best HEADPHONES for gaming

legend8887

Normally I would be asking for a headset because I am a competitive PC gamer. However, I don't think the microphone quality in headsets cut it. So I plan on getting the SL150 microphone and a very high quality pair of headphones. The headphones need to be top notch without paying $500 because I play competitive first person shooters. They also must be VERY comfortable. The Razer Kraken Pro headset becomes VERY uncomfortable and hurts when you wear it for hours.

For purely gaming, check out the AD700x, they won't break your bank. They're also good for music, if you like a bright sound signature.

HyperXClouds aren't bad; Sennheiser Urbanites are also known to be not bad... Sennheiser Game Zero or One each are very good; things inbetween are inbetween...

The Sennheiser headsets are overpriced and he already said he would be buying the SL150 condenser.

Nice one not going with a shitty headset btw.

AKG K702 - it'll be super precise for competitive gaming, with a nice soundstage, and very comfortable as well. You'd need an amp with it, however.

The soundstage of the AD700X is indeed fairly wide, but not as precise as an AKG. Plus with OP's budget, you coulda recommended the 1000X. :P

These are some interesting guides. Sad to see no reference of the Panasonic SE-A1000 in any of them.

Think you meant Pioneer, not Panasonic.

It was just a suggestion for a pretty low price.  I haven't used the K702s yet :/

EDIT: I've used and currently own the K612's and soon to try the Q701s. Do the K702's have a more precise soundstage than those?

I have beyerdynamic 990 pros and they are great for gaming. I use them for music as well, but BF 4 is so great on them. I also have a DAC and amp.

That's a sign that it is time for me to go to bed...

I've only owned the K701 and K612 - imo, the 612 is the same thing but with an EQ tweak.

Have you tried one of dem open audio-technicas? I've had a 500X and 700X - AKG's are definitely less airy sounding, and more sharp in their details.

Yeah, I own the AD900x. I can agree on that. :)

EDIT: I got the AD900x cause it was cheaper in Canada than the 700X at the time :P
