AMD or intel which build?

for gaming the i5 for editing the FX

The Intel one is better but there's no point getting a K series CPU with an H81 board.

The AMD build is not a bad option either.

Dead wrong, the AMD CPU wins because of the 8 threads as opposed to the 4 threads on the 4690k. I would recommend getting a xeon E3 1231-v3 instead though. No OC'ing via multiplier and no iGPU but you get 8 threads for about the price of an i5 and that will destroy the 8320.

Well, if you're on a tight-ish budget go with AMD. You can get a 6-core (3.5 GHz) FX for about £75.

No it doesn't win. There are lots of reasons why not to get AMD.

Did you even read this, you blind fanboy? He clearly said, he needs CPU for gaming & sometimes editing/rendering. It means his main priority is GAMING! And in gaming i5 destroys that 8 core junk from AMD.

You need to tone down your hostility. AMD is not shite, it's just less than intel on a core-for-core basis. If you OC it (which you should do anyway if you're buying AMD) then its performance is not at all lesser to the intel option. Primary does not mean it should be the only function you should look at. If he makes videos (then he obviously needs to render them otherwise they look like shite) then the FX destroys the I5.

Gaming - AMD gets less average performance than Intel in some games, yet equal in others.

 

 

Video work - AMD's More cores = better usually, however lesser stronger cores are not far behind either, so Intel still has some saving grace.

 

But I'm different, I'd build a machine for both so one doesn't detract me from another.

Gaming - AMD gets less performance than Intel

Only at the same clock speeds of about 3.5-3.8. OC the CPU to about 4.5+ and it's on par with intel (If you get AMD you should OC anyway because they have godlike relative OC capabilities).
