Project: Red Torpedo

Lozi

This is my first gaming pc build so I have got a lot to learn, the last pc I built was an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with 1GB of ram about 12 years ago and things have moved on a lot since then.

I have recently been using an old Core 2 Duo Acer laptop with an overheating problem, an old Samsung monitor and bargain basement keyboard and mouse to just about play minecraft on really low settings :D

Here she is mounted on 4 drinks cans to aid cooling lol

I have been keeping my eye on YouTube Tech channels to get to grips with current hardware and have been waiting for the next big thing to happen, a few weeks ago I came to the realisation that the industry is always changing and so I would be waiting forever so I took the plunge and ordered all the components to make my rig.

I have taken delivery of most of it so here goes my attempt to build a gaming pc.

I want to build so etching that looks good and I also want to have a go at overclocking for the first time.

Such jealousy...

No jealousy, just simple disdain for the ghettoness of my PC.

This is for some sort of video editing or rendering, not just gaming right?

Although this has cost me a lot of money there are definitely compromises and to be honest I did overspend a fair bit in the spur of the moment lol

why no lga 2011?? besides that it is good :)

Price starts to go crazy with LGA2011 and I couldn't really afford what I have bought to be honest, I would love an x79 machine!

Lol yes I plan to use it to edit my photos and videos aswell as I do abit of Motorsport related stuff, again editing will be new to me so I have got a lot to learn.

I didn't actually buy the ram because I thought needed 32GB it's just I had 16GB and wanted a second colour so went for another set in black lol such stupidity is why I will be doing plenty of overtime to pay for all this lol

Holy crap that's a big stepup from a old acer laptop :o

Yes I should notice quite a big difference I think lol

Will be nice to be able to do stuff without overheating and shutting down

No problem, I originally wanted to  use the bear one with the plastic seat, but didn't bother looking for it in my D:/

That's a one hell of a project! Not like some crap you can see in Build Logs (I'm 10 and I'm building a PC. Here are my parts. Be happy)

lol, i remember that thread. I agree it's silly,  but you can't blame them

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it
