Project: Red Torpedo

Lozi

@Lozi Sweet parts. One thing though. Good luck getting that AC68 to work with Windows 8.1. I tried it myself and the latest drivers for it are fubar. That was a few months ago though so maybe they've updated them? Let me know if you get it working properly.

I got a smaller black one with the mobo but it doesn't clear the plastic on the graphics card, it's pretty annoying as I hate the one I've had to use!

I have pretty similar build to this, I went with red/black silverstone sleeved extensions. x2 AF140 led red in the front and 120AF in the back exhaust. I also put a Logisys Sun Stick at the top near the radiator to cast down a nice red glow. It casts a nice glow on the back of the ASUS plates. Its a shame the video cards cover all the sexiness of the motherboard.

@Lozi, Did you end up getting the wifi card to work in windows 8? Any issues with it or the drivers?

@Lozi, Did you end up getting the wifi card to work in windows 8? Any issues with it or the drivers?

Initially it messed me about a little but then I updated the drivers and it works perfect now really fast aswell

This really bugs me they cover up so much!

IMO, it looks so much better like this. Asus has always overdone the red.

Very nice build. Just needs heatshrinkless cables.

To be honest I'm really not that into red I wanted a blue and black build but lack of choice forced me to go red

Also. Did you plan on putting the PSU drawing air from the GPU?

This is my first gaming pc build so I have got a lot to learn, the last pc I built was an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with 1GB of ram about 12 years ago and things have moved on a lot since then.

I have recently been using an old Core 2 Duo Acer laptop with an overheating problem, an old Samsung monitor and bargain basement keyboard and mouse to just about play minecraft on really low settings :D

Here she is mounted on 4 drinks cans to aid cooling lol

I have been keeping my eye on YouTube Tech channels to get to grips with current hardware and have been waiting for the next big thing to happen, a few weeks ago I came to the realisation that the industry is always changing and so I would be waiting forever so I took the plunge and ordered all the components to make my rig.

I have taken delivery of most of it so here goes my attempt to build a gaming pc.

I want to build so etching that looks good and I also want to have a go at overclocking for the first time.

The obligatory components arranged on a table pic
