i am thinking about getting a controller for racing games, can anyone suggest a good controller please?

The Xbox One controller has very smooth triggers.

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I'd say  logitech. They're really good at making this :)

And especially for racing, I'd say Logitech. For other, logitech is still good, but i'd go for 360 Wired..:)

If you already have a controller for your console, use it. If not, get an Xbox 360/One controller or if you can spend more, Logitech Driving Force GT.

I would strongly recommend the xbox 360 controller, simply due to compatibility... windows detects it immediately and already has the drivers for it, it also works immediately with almost every game i've tried and without the need to mess about with mapping controls.

XB360 controller, the best one around. Playing CoD at my friend's house on an XB360 was so much more enjoyable than the PS3 version.

I use a wired xbox 360 controller. Definitely the best option unless you want to invest in an Xbox One controller. Most games that come out on PC that have controller support pretty much assume you're using a 360 controller. Playstation and 3rd party controllers may need some work to get the bindings right.

 

Overall the most mindlessly easy option is to go with an official wired xbox 360 controller. It's a very good controller, and just works.
