Need help. GTX 760 x2 or GTX 780 x1

Cavatoid

Ya exactly i wanted to do the 760s just for the looks but Idk its a hard descision atm

then if you really want to be serious you should grab a r9 290

It's cheaper than a 780, and if you want, you could spend a few dollars more and get the 290x

Two R9 280 non-X's. Rule the hood

and yeah, about all that "futureproof-ing" :

when your 2 gpu's will become obsolete, your whole system will be obsolete

Single R9 290X Tri X

You may be a little biased... ;)

But a single 780 would be better overall. Or a 290/290X.

@Cavatoid Actually the CM Storm Stryker has 9 expansion slots, so even if you go with two cards, you can add a third one of them later on if you want to. So it's still futureproof.

Not biased, speaking the truth ;)

290X outperforms the original titan (and the 780 ofc). It's close to the 780ti.

The tri x is cool and quiet.

nVidia only features like shadowplay? Read this :)http://linustechtips...50/?p=2315959

If you have the money for the 780, better grab a 290 and buy some ice cream with the rest of the money.

The 290 is cheaper and better than a 780. And you will get ice cream.

Look my name up on 3dmark and it'll show all my testing through all my cards.

1x 780, I don't like dual card solutions unless it;s with high end cards. Also AVOID XFX EVEN WITH POWER SUPPLIES THEIR WARRANTY IS BLOODY ATROCIOUS!

I would get the 780. It would allow you to upgrade better later as well by getting a second card.

Just sold my 780 and got 2x gigabyte 760 4gb oc versions and they smash my 780 benchmark scores (780 was oc aswell) with their factory oc plus it fills my 750d up abit more just looks badass.

Last time I checked 3Dmark scaled horribly with SLI/CF

The two 760s will be more powerful but the 780 will leave you room to upgrade.

One GTX 780. Allows for future upgradability. But it is still not a sensible option in terms of what OP is getting. Some of the games he plays don't support SLI in themselves anyways.
Nowadays for the most part any game that would benefit from sli can use it.
nooooo single 780 because its a high end card and because sli scailing is poor
2 way sli scaling is actually quite good so I dont know what your going on about.

Yeah, people buy R9s used a lot because they think they're getting a good deal, but it's those good-deal cards that have been to hell and back mining litecoin/bitcoin/myasscoin/whatever

Welcome to LTT by the way!

For the few that have had cards that died, there's hundreds more that have had no issues with their cards.  Don't let a few people with bad luck ruin something that saves people hundreds of dollars.

I haven't had a single issue with my 280X. The one I had before had a faulty cooler but that wasn't the fault of the card itself (Asus Matrix). Exchanged it for this (HIS) and couldn't be happier
