Is 1000w enough?

PhiberOptik

Is a 1000w power supply enough for folding on a i7 970, 2 GTX 460 MSI Hawk Talon Attack, and 1 GTX 780 ASUS DCU2 OC?

Yes, use a PSU calculator. Asus, Newegg, and PcPartpicker's are good. Why would you have two 460's and a single 780 in one build?

Spoiler

i5 4670k, GTX 970, 12GB 1600, 120GB SSD, 240GB SDD, 1TB HDD, CM Storm Quickfire TK, G502, VG248QE, ATH M40x, Fractal R4

Spoiler

i5 4278U, Intel Iris Graphics, 8GB 1600, 128GB SSD, 2560x1600 IPS display, Mid-2014 Model

All the parts are here, just need to get customized cords to connect the motherboard to the front panel.

Power supply is a OCZ ZX 1000w.
I tried PSU calculators they either don't support my setup or they are wrong. I am folding and currently the 460s are just sitting in a box.

PSU Calculator are usually wrong and overestimate how much you need.

You trust Newegg? A place that MAKES MONEY from selling you PC components such as power supplys?

Who else are you going to trust? Pcpartpicker low-balls amount of power needed. Who else is going to do a great service? No seriously, give me a non-profit PSU calculator. I need one.

How does PCPP low ball power?

Looks fine to me

780ti SLI power consumption is 650 watts

PCPP says 760. After reading those, PCPP seems to be doing a fine job.

There ya go, accurate but is still a little low.

I did find a non-profit PSU calculator though.

watts dont mean poop, its how the power delivery is layed out. thats the key.

a suply with less then 15 amps per rail will never survive a folding gpu with an 8pin connector, it wil just clip out on you, or you need to combine 2 rails together to get to the 150watt output for long lengths of time, but that has its downsides as well.

i dont know about your psu, but in my opinion you need a single rail if youre gonna push performance..

and thats why those calculators overestimate. they have to take into conciderationthe shittieesr psu`s. thats why they over eastimater
