Project LoKi (side desk computer and desk combo all steal) (10/13/14) started desk part of build

godsarmy

i'm at the very beginning of this build and will start fabrication this weekend or next.

Just picked the steal to start this build. it is a take on what Red Harbinger did with there cross desk. what I was looking for was a side desk. it will be fully liquid cooled with the rads mounted on the bottom of the self that will hold my receiver and mixer. im hoping to keep have this done before the x99 is released :) I also hope I can get a nice fit and finish out this with lots of cable management.

the cad drawings were for me to figure out how much steel I will need and to get an idea on how it will turn out (I am no pro)

so didn't get to weld this weekend. -_- do to rain... so i got started on the bottom. turns out i messed up on the cad drawing with the measurements of the shelf. it has to fit a Denon NCD-N7 and a Yamaha MG102c side by side on the top and three 360 rads in series on the bottom of the shelf. thing are going to be tighter then i though.

i laid the steel to get an idea of how i'm going to put it together...

so i got sheet metal coming Friday! so im starting to plan the rest on the build. i wanted the rads not installed inside with the other computer components. (less dust, No air flow, fully water cooled mb cpu and gpu). so i came up with this to be mounted below the self. it will pull air into the box trough the 3 480mm rads then exhausted out the back with the help of some 80 mm fans, all fans will be noctua. im still playing around with the idea. so if anyone has input that would be great!

So the cables are going be routes through those channels? Pretty cool design :)

Thanks man, this build is all about cable management ;) and yes there is a cable tray then the cables will go through the slots. There will be stiff bristles in between the slots ensure they stay put. :)

Woah, you got some nice welding skills there, they look like pretty solid joints!

Where did you get that motherboard tray from?

Are you wearing socks outside?

That thing must weigh a metric fuck-ton. If you were in Southern California, I would love to help you out on a custom paint job (I paint cars for a living). But it would be a bit of a quest to haul that from North Dakota to Los Angeles.

it is getting extremely heavy -_- lol the 14 gauge steel is not helping!  and that would have been awesome! im starting to look into to painting. thats way to long to drive lol all though i would enjoy the warmth :)

Wow. Such heavy, much steel. You don't plan on moving anytime soon do you? That would be a pain to transport, but you probably have a truck or van or something. I'd be screwed!
