if you want it to be silent, a hyper 212 evo with a gentle typhoon should be good enough, plus, the h100i pump is loud, and so are the fans it comes with

Go for it, you might change your mind on overclocking once you get it.

Overkill. A smaller HSF from Noctua or something would be more silent and still give you headroom for OC later.

What are the specs of the PC you are going to build? If you plan on overclocking at some point and you have the money the H100i would be great. If you just want a quiet cooler and you aren't going to overclock get a CM Hyper 212 EVO or a cheaper Noctua cooler.

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

pretty much any silent configuration will be overkill if you don't plan to overclock :P I guess go for a shadow rock 2, think they're like $40-$50

Then the H100i is the wrong choice. It's loud. In fact all AIO's are loud. Get a be quiet! Dark Rock 3 Pro and be happy. Great temps, great looks and silent.

With a unlocked processor and such a nice motherboard I highly suggest you get a decent air cooler such as a Noctua D14, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3 or a Phanteks PH-TC14PE. The H100i will be a bit louder and the performance will be about the same.

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M
