Bad Experiance with Asus Products anyone?

Hi,

So I went off today and spent about 200e on the Asus RT-AC68U Router to replace my old TP link router which was disconnecting me all the time and causing all kinds of s!@#t, also i wanted to really take advantage of my 1gb fiber connection, only to arrive home and after my enthusiastic unboxing of the router, setting up the cables etc... realised the new router is faulty... :(( WHY GOD!?! WHY ME!?!

Just to be sure i went ahead and had a live chat with an Asus representative which told me to RMA the shit..

I went trough the Chat because i couldn't believe myself, I unsealed it with my own hands :) What kind of QC is asus doing? Connecting them to Electricity to see if the lights blink and .. that's it?!

I am very disappointed... like a small child who wants an icecream and when he finally gets it, it falls to the ground, leaving the child hopeless :)))

Asus monitor = power brick died after 3 months, replacing it within warranty = NOT POSSIBLE as it's not part of the warranty agreement, replacing it with an original asus power brick = 50e.. so I went and bought a Chinese after market one for 10e which works still today.

2x Eah 4670 cards, died on me.

I was truly happy with the Rampage II Extreme MoBo, and now im more then happy with the Maximus VI Formula MoBo.

So i think in the future I will stick in buying only MoBo's from Asus... nothing else.

Edit: So i was at Asus today, they took in the faulty router and later this evening the replacement will come as they didn't had it on stock.

I cannot complain, at least i will receive the replacement still today.

I personally haven't had any issues with Asus products.  I'm currently using one of their routers, I believe it is the RT-N56U.   I also put one of their DCU 7850's into a friend's system.  Haven't had any issues.  Then again, I haven't had to deal with their customer support.

Well the only Asus product I have is my motherboard (MOCA-AR) which has faithfully served me for 12 years straight. I am in no position to complain.

like I've been telling everyone people hype up asus, especially their motherboards WAAAAY too much, I hate their motherboards because of the pricing for nothing but the name, my Biostar cost me less than half of what the Asus boards competing with it cost. and Asus boards tend to die in the South African heat.

Never had problem with ASUS products, they've all been functioning as advertised for me. Monitors, Motherboards, Headsets(no longer own), and tablet all work perfectly.

What are you on about? I lived in south of Spain (very hot in the summer) 10 years, in that time I had like 5 Asus MoBo`s and 3 Asus gpu`s and I did not have a single problem. I don`t know why you hate them so much but in my opinion they make the best boards.

They're also the world's best selling motherboards too.

When I helped my friend build his computer last year we had to RMA his ASUS P8Z77-V (I can't remember which exact variation at the moment) five times. Five. That's insane. Sure, bad luck happens, but from a company with such an insanely high reputation, I kind of expected better. One RMA or two is one thing...but five in a row to get a single working board...

Then we get on the other side where I have always used ASRock boards (they have a less good reputation and people usually say to avoid them like the plague). The only issue I've had on an ASRock board was on my first one. The gigabit didn't work and I only got 10/100mbps on it. Wasn't a big issue so I just dealt with it. On my current board, I have zero issues.

So, in the end, I think it all comes down to luck really. Most people seem to stand by ASUS as if they're gods, but my friend and I tell everyone to go with someone else when they can after our super negative experience. I will give them credit for being quick and awesome about RMA'ing the same board so many times.

I'm guessing you didn't read the OP, it may be one person but it was 4 products out of 6, that's not good stats and certainly gives him the right to complain.

if their products were fine you wouldn't need their RMA service :P also here in South Africa at least, most of the returns to local shops are Asus boards Yet people still overpay for them, I bought 2 mobos for the price I'd have paid for one asus Z68 board back then. (same features as my board, just adding that)

I would expect with a product return rate below 2% they are good, but someone has to be in the 2% and to say they shouldn't complain means that when a company produces a bad product no one will know because everyone will just assume they are in the 2% when in fact the whole design might be dodgy.  If he said he bought an OCZ vertex2 would you tell him the same thing?

in South Africa the RMA service also sucks so they don't even have that going for them, all they survive on is reputation and human stupidity (I mean seriously you should see what they charge here...)

Well, i have had more problems with their products (As stated above). From 7 Asus products i bough, only 3 managed to deliver the service they we're intended to...

Let's see, monitor = 300e + each eah4670 card (2x 150e at that time) + 200e router = 800e (A bit above 1000$) for four products which failed.

I didn't stop buying products from them, I bought their MoBo's mostly because of the aesthetics (Of course the specs counted but it's nothing their competition do not offer so you reach a point where aesthetics can make the difference).

My Rampage II Extreme costs at that time abut 250e same is the Maximus VI formula im using now, about 220e i paid for the GTX 660 at the time.

as you can see, even if some of their products failed on me, i didn't stop buying.. Now, when i come home with a 200e router (It's a god damn router for home use, 200e is more then expensive!) I expect that shit to work.

Overall i invested about 2000$ in Asus and i reach a point where I see this as a mistake.
