€300 is a very small amount of money for a laptop. If you want new, all that gets you is Atom based Celeron chips, 4GB RAM and maybe a 64GB eMMC SSD. Gotta go used.

Used business laptops like HP Probook 450 G0/G2, Latitude E6440/6540 and ThinkPad T440 are attainable, all with decent build quality. You can upgrade them yourself if they are sub par spec wise. Most have FHD display options.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

All of these are not superfast or so :) But I assume she does not do a lot of things that are very heavy. Also when it is a gift i understand you want a new one. Besides if she wants to do gaming she can always use a streaming service for it.
