Help needed, Should I upgrade CPU or GPU for FPS increase?

Hi fellow enthousiasts,

 

I am not quite sure what to upgrade to get more fps.

I recently started playing BF V. I am noticing I only get like 60 fps max on 1080p high settings.

I would like to get that number up as I want to make use of my higher refreshrate monitor.

 

I currently have a gtx970 and a I7 6800K@4.2

 

As I am only really playing 1080P, will a for example AMD Vega64 give me a good fps increase or is my CPU being a bottleneck.

 

I hope some of you can share your knowledge/experience on the case.

Hmmm. A no money solution would be to drop quality settings a bit to raise FPS to 144hz. But....

 

If you wanna stay at max quality settings for whatever reason then ya you'll need a new GPU preferably a 1080 or 1080ti. Stay away from Vega unless u see the price drop below cost of 1080.

I wouldn't upgrade anything, but if you want to upgrade something, probably the gpu

Any idea percentage-whise how much fps increase I can suspect with a GPU upgrade ?

GPU will make more of a difference most likely, A CPU upgrade on X99 does not make a lot of sense. And switching to a new platform is a big investment. What is your budget?

I found a very good deal on a VEGA64 here in Europe and freesync is also a bonus for me, and that is around 490 euro.
