HiSense to release 6.8" "phone" in the US

dizmo

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Ok, so they're not the most well known company for anything remotely quality, but HiSense is releasing a 6.8" "phone" in the US.

Hisense's X1, a 6.8-inch Android smartphone first introduced at this year's CES. You wouldn't be wrong for thinking it's a tablet -- it pretty much unofficially is and depending on your taste and needs, that could be a good thing. The X1, which is slated to launch in China before the US, comes outfitted with what we'd expect from a high-end smartphone: Snapdragon 800, 13-megapixel camera, 1080p IPS display, 3,900mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat. So the performance and shine are there, but its dimensions stop it just short of being practical in daily use.

I think you know my reaction to this. I think phones are getting too big, and the fact that most companies don't even make smaller phones with flagship spec is worrying.

I'm interested to hear what your guys views are on this.

Do you think that's too big for a phone?

Should manufacturers continually push up the size of the display year over year?
For the males, are you willing to start carrying a murse to hold your tablet sized phone?

So, after what size it becomes a tablet and not a phone?

For me it's a tablet.

That poll is just asking if you have big hands or not.

Not really. You still have to put the phone somewhere when you want to walk around. Pockets don't get exponentially bigger the bigger your hands are..

Big men with big hands generally have big pants with deep pockets. I'm 6'2", I can easily palm a basketball and my S3 feels like a kids toy in my hands. I'd get this if it was a more well known company.

I wouldn't even be able to hold that in one hand from how big it looks...

6.8"? Way too big. Maybe 6" max. My 5" HTC DNA is getting a bit small to me personally, but almost 7" phone? No thank you.

I'm fine with my Galaxy S4 screen size. No need to up the resolution or size of the screen any more than that imo.

Phones are starting to get too big but like big screens as you can watch videos on it. I like phones that can be pretty easily used with one hand. Wonder what will the price be for this phone.

This is too big for me personally but why 1080 why not 1440p? Or even 1600p? Oh and a Tegra 4. Lol

Tho Note 3 is about perfect on size for me.

i'm currently using 4 inches and it's good enough for most tasks. If bezels we slimmer i could accept 4.4 or so.... 5 inches would be the absolute max i would consider a phone, any more and it would just be too big for most pockets and require 2 hands. I got small hands btw

I say an Xperia Z1 is about perfect for people with average hands, and Note 3 for people with larger hands. Anything larger isn't really practical as a phone anymore.

I voted for too big, but I don't know why you made us also say 5.2" is the ideal max size.

Probably referring to the G2.
