Removing black die cover on cpu

What type of material covers the actual die of the cpu, I would like to be able to see the silicon die and put in a display to look cool. Also microscopic viewing would look cool.

They add in all the colors. It just looks like a shiny gray square and if you look from the side you might see a line in it

No there's a ton of silicon on top of it. You would need to lap it all off and run the risk of destroying the wafer. It would look similar to the thing above in the fab before being mounted to a chip

If it's a dead/unusable CPU, you can do it. Look up der8auber's video, I believe he did it with a Threadripper or something like that. I bet he goes into detail about the method, risks and the results.

I'm going to risk sounding like a douche, but if you're not into looking up things, I wouldn't recommend doing anything like this.

And apparently it requires you to use fairly dangerous chemicals, so I can't encourage you to do it.

I am fine with looking things up, but it is just simpler and much more likely that you will find what you mentioned. And I have used chemicals and a couple thousand degree furnace to melt large amounts of aluminum. If there is anyone stupid enough to do it, that would probably be me lol.
