SSD vs HDD on Games Fps

If not Im not mistaken, when your system runs out of RAM, it will access your storage device for pagefile. Will it make any difference in fps if the storage is fast like an SSD? I currently have 8gb but according to HardwareUnboxed video, some games perfer 16gb for maximum performance and I dont really want to upgrade to 16gb yet cause its expensive plus this might be the perfect excuse for me to buy an SSD.

You shouldn't need an excuse to buy an SSD. You should just buy one.

There's almost no difference. Even in open world games where data is streamed from, as long as the hard drive isn't a budget model, it'll keep up just fine.

 

As far as how much RAM you have, that also doesn't seem to be an issue whether you have 8GB or 16GB

 

EDIT: If you're running out of RAM to the point your PC is needing to access the page file frequently enough for it to be a problem, close the applications you're running first. If you're the kind of person who keeps a bazillion Chrome tabs open, there are ways to either shove them out of memory or save them for another time.

 

Either way, the first solution to out of RAM should be to dump what you're not actually using first.
