F1 (2014) Car Reveals Soon!

chaozbandit

Yes yes yes, it's that time of year again. By now most of you should be familiar with the changes to the 2014 rules regulations as per the FIA, with changes such as more strict aero and the downsized turbo V6 engine. The first race of the 2014 F1 calendar is Round 1 in Australia on February 15, 2014 (though you can pretty much guarantee each team doing private testing prior to that date). McLaren is one of many manufacturers gearing up for their respective reveals, with details just now being released via twitter.

I will definitely be following it. Vettel is probably gonna destroy everyone yet again, but that's no reason not to love F1. :)

I really hope they still can design a beautiful car even after all those regulation changes.

As a big fan of F1, I will definitely not watch the reveal, but at one point just go to the website, or check my twitter feed, and see the pic.
Last season was disappointing. KIMI FTW. :D Also, too bad Hulkenberg didn't go to Lotus, because Lotus didn't have enough money, so they had to get Maldonado, and now, Lotus is going to be a disastrous team.

Indeed they will.

This is going to be an interesting season. Love that they went back to turbo V6's. My absolute favorite time in F1 was the turbo era of the late 80's early 90's where they were running 1200hp+ qualifying engines and with NO driver aids. IMO, F1 has become rather stale/boring since then. Back then the drivers had much bigger balls and more skill (IMO). Still believe Senna was and always will be the best. :(

Anyways, what's even more interesting about going back to turbos is the implication of the various fuel restrictions on both carrying capacity and flow-rate/consumption. This is really cool from an engineering perspective and from someone who has worked on/built/tuned race cars, because it's one thing to just simply make an engine produce X amount of power, but it's far more challenging to make that engine produce that power as efficiently as possible.

Also find it really fascinating that they are implementing power-recovery generator/motors on the turboshaft itself. Lot's of new technology crammed in these new cars. 160hp boost from the KERS will make for a lot more passing...

F1 is finally interesting again! (For me anyways).
