Windows 10 Requires daily reboot or will slow to a crawl

This is how far its climbed over night and PC is starting to get sluggish and its still climbing.  Im gonna uninstall the program and restart the PC.

Just a quick update.  Before i restarted my pc i uninstalled Aura and my PC instantly speeded back up to normal.

 

I will keep and eye on the PC for the next day or so and update you guys.

Man, how many protection do you need? It's too much! In autoruns I see MANY entries that you can disable. Remove that CCleaner - that's for sure. Remove that updaters (lot of them). Decide what program do you want for protect (or uninstall them all). It's too many to point just one of them. This required to ask many more question about your entries (do you recognized that tools etc).

Please point out what entries i can disable and how please as i thought i had disabled all that needed disabling.

Green - do you REALLY need it?

Blue - do you know what it is (and really need it)?

Red - remove that.

 

As you see - you have Kaspersky, Spybot S&D and CCleaner.

CCleaner - remove FOR SURE. It may made more harm than help.

SpyBot - remove FOR SURE. You're already protected too much with all that Kaspersky system etc.

 

You must really figure out what do you need in autostart, but now what I see is TOO MANY entries that basically slow down your computer all the time.

 

About all AV and similar software - disabling is not enough. You must uninstall program completely (Spybot for example) to made it work.

Ive never really gone this deep into disabling backround services, ive only really used Task Manager etc.

Some of them - like Spybot (or CCleaner) - you must uninstall.

 

If you want only disable service / program from start but still want to use it (when you decided to) - use Autoruns (run as admin) and disable it (uncheck).

If you want to remove program - use Add/Remove Programs.

 

Again - do not use any cleaners, registry optimizers, extra protection tools etc. This may mess with your system. It will not be more clean - it's not dirt on your desk. On your hard drive you may have lot of files that may be not important, but they're not harm either. But deleting some of them may be not so good idea. Windows 10 is not the same crap as Windows 98 that needs constant attention. It's operating system that you may use for years without any reinstalling, tuning, cleaning etc. Trust years of Microsoft experience. If you don't trust them - change operating system.

 

You may also try to configure your programs - like Kaspersky for example. I still can't understand why they have all that double or triple protection. AV for example protect your computer constantly and every program you want to run is scanned by AV before run. So all files activity is monitored. So why additional website checking? If any website wants to save harmful file on your computer, active protection should block it anyway. The same about email scanning - for what? For dangerous attachments? They will be stopped by active protection, right? But all that triple protection may give you false sense of security and it may be even more dangerous that using computer without AV.

 

If something is wrong with your system - try to uninstall AV first, because it's most heavy and most interfering with OS software you have.

 

BTW. Want to have real protection? Uninstall AV and install Comodo Firewall (without any options related to viruses). Set it to custom mode and from now you have control of every program that wants to connect to internet. If you download some virus that wants to connect any server - firewall gives you a warning and you can check where that program is located, kill it, block it, whaterver. Without slowing down AV heuristics. You can be even more paranoid and run HIPS or program control that gives you warning about what program wants to be executed and what program wants to start other program - you may block suspicious file before even starts working. After 1 week Comodo should learn all your programs and then you'll have non interrupted, not slowed down work with extra protection.

Uninstalling Kaspersky tho is out of the question, its done me proud for 4 years and ive had a few close shaves where files have been downloaded and its instantly caught viruses\malware so im keeping.

But you can uninstall Spybot an CCleaner at least. And analyze that programs I show on your screenshots.

@homeap5 I have done all that above, as i said as soon as i uninstalled Aura my system became responsive again.  I will now keep u all updated over the next day or so to see if the system keeps responding as it should.

Both Spybot & CCleaner can be disabled at startup if you want to. You don't need to uninstall them necessarily.

They use very few handles so they don't really impact your system performance much, and disabling the startup they wont be impacting anyway. 

 

But i'm pretty sure Aura was your issue.

Why would Aura create so many handles when it wasn't really opened that often or running in the background that i knew of.

Aura would constantly be running since it controls all the RGB, but refer to my post about how to clean the installation, and try a newer one. It seems to be a known issue that some have experienced high CPU usage issues with previous versions reading the Asus forums

No, they cannot be completely disabled on startup since they use some additional services and processes for browsers etc. Look at that autoruns screens.
